Buffy and Faith's first Christmas together. (Sequel, of a sorts, to Trick or Treat). At least, that's how it started out, but the damned Slayers refused to cooperate!

Part 1

Part 1
Faith looked up at the sound of footsteps approaching her and smiled at the sight of her lover as Buffy came in with yet another armload of lights and garland. She let her head fall back and, as expected, the blonde Slayer pressed a soft kiss to her waiting lips as she walked by. "Is that the last of the stuff you bought?" the brunette asked, her tone teasing for the amount of decorations.

"Yes, it is, smart ass!" Buffy playfully scolded. To be truthful, she had to admit, only to herself, of course, she had went a little overboard with the christmas decorations this year. She just hadn't been able to help herself, though. The last christmas she could remember really enjoying was years ago and she keenly wanted to make up for it.

She could only remember two that she'd even half enjoyed. The holidays during her senior year of high school when Faith had joined them and the previous year, when she and Dawn had had a small, but pleasant celebration in Italy. This year, though, she intended to make up for all the years she'd missed due to apocalypses, demonic ex-boyfriends, government experiments gone wrong, friends overdosing on magic and everything else that had conspired to make the holidays miserable for her since she'd become a Slayer.

Buffy looked at the tree currently in one corner of Faith's living room and cocked her head at it, patently considering. Finally, she half turned to her girl with a little pout. "Tell me the truth, DC." She waved a hand toward the tree. "Is it too much?"

Faith looked at the partially sagging evergreen and tried to not smile. Shaking her head, she smirked instead. "Dunno, B. I mean, I can still see at least an inch and half of pine tree. Maybe one more string of lights?"

Buffy scowled and threw one of the empty tree light boxes at the younger Slayer, who caught it an inch from her nose. "It's a damned good thing I love you, otherwise, I'd have to kick your ass for picking on me!"

Faith froze, her expression of teasing mirth becoming one of incredulous disbelief and the beginnings of what looked like hope. Ever since the eldest Slayer had come back into her life on Halloween night, and moved in with her the next day, she'd been waiting for the other shoe to drop. For the blonde she adored to tell her it had been fun, but she was moving on. After all, it's what had happened every time before this. Sometimes, she felt she'd been waiting her entire adult life for Buffy to realize how much she loved her. The brunette Slayer snorted softly in self amusement/derision as she thought it over quickly and realized she had been.

It was true, they had enjoyed each other and their time together immensely so far. At least she had and from Buffy's reactions and words, the blonde had as well. Still, Faith waited for Buffy to finish satisfying her curiousity and move on to her next boyfriend. The thought that the blonde might actually love her was a cherished dream, but Faith was way too much of a realist to ever believe that it might come true.

Now, though... [Nah,] the brunette Slayer thought. [She just meant it as a joke. I mean, I know she doesn't hate me anymore, pretty sure she even likes me again, but it'll never be love.] Faith sighed, her expression a little melancholy.

"Are you okay?"

[Damn, she noticed. Think fast, Slayer.] "Yeah, I'm fine." Faith forced a smirk onto her face. "Just thinkin' it's gonna be a long week. Y'know, with Red and Kenn here, us not being able to scratch any itches 'til they leave. I was just feelin' a little sad that I won't be able to play with that delicious little body of yours until after Christmas, that's all."

Buffy gave her girl a knowing grin. "We could always try to be quiet, couldn't we?"

Faith laughed and shook her head. "B, neither of us can be quiet when we screw, even if we use ball gags." She smirksed again and waggled her eyebrows. "And we both know that for a solid fact, right?"

Instantly, the blonde was defensive, though she smiled at her lover. "Hey, I wasn't the one who bit through the old one, Iron Jaw!"

"Very true," Faith magnanimously allowed. She paused for effect, then gave an exaggerated wink. "You're just the one who made me come hard enough that it happened."

The Buffy of old would've blushed and denied everything, but this Buffy just smirked and bowed her head a little. "You're welcome, DC." Her smirk turned into a devilish grin. "Of course, I seem to remember, you got me back just after that. Something about a really big strap-on, clamps, candles and ice..." she trailed off, a wicked twinkle in her eye.

Faith smiled fondly and said dreamily, "Yeah, that was a good night." She stood and crossed over to the where the blonde was standing, slipping her arms around the trim waist. "One of many in the last couple months." She kissed Buffy slowly, licking the older woman's lips for a moment before sliding her tongue inside to taste her lover. Pulling away only when oxygen became an issue, Faith smirked again and swatted Buffy on the butt. "Even if you did start everything off with a dirty trick!"

Buffy gave a little growling groan and rolled her eyes. "How many times do I have to apologize for that?"

Faith grinned and kissed the blonde's nose, swiftly retreating as Buffy swatted at her. "Seems to me finding you like I did was all the apology I needed. The others were for you." Her grin became a devilish smile. "Still nice to hear, though!"

"Keep it up, DC." Buffy said, warningly, her expression severe, though the dark Slayer could see the corners of her mouth twitch with amusement. "We still have two days before anyone shows up. Wanna start that dry spell a little early?"

Faith walked back over to stand directly in front of Buffy. Leaning slightly forward, she slowly licked her full lower lip, then bit it. She saw her girl's eyes drop to follow what she was doing and the flare of desire in those hazel orbs as they darkened. Smiling a little in triumph, Faith replied, "I'd have to call your bluff, B. You can't wait ten days anymore than I can."

Buffy lunged out quickly and captured the brunette's lips, kissing her passionately, deeply, sucking her bottom lip between her own, biting it lightly. Faith just groaned and wrapped her arms around the petite blonde, pulling her closer. Air finally running out, the Slayers separated a little. Buffy smiled at her girlfriend, panting lightly. "You may have a point there, DC."

The phone ringing distracted the blonde from whatever else she was going to say, so she kissed her girlfriend again quickly before moving out of her arms to answer it. "Hello? Oh, hi Kennedy. What time's your flight? What?! No! Dammit, you guys promised!"

Faith moved closer at Buffy's angry exclamation. "Not comin', huh?" She asked softly.

Buffy shook her head with a furious jerk, then her expression changed to a sad, sympathetic one. "Oh. Yeah, I understand. I don't like it, but I get it. Okay, tell her I said to feel better and you better take good care of her! I can still kick your ass, you know!" She laughed a little. "No, hiding behind Faith won't save you, cause I can kick her ass too!" She blew a kiss toward the brunette when the other Slayer scoffed. "Yeah, okay. You too, Kenn. Tell Will I love her. Thanks. What? Oh, yeah, I hope so too. Okay. Bye."

"So, we're not havin' guests?"

Buffy looked up from the phone, her expression still a little sad, though it was laced with exasperation. "Yes, but not them. Kennedy said Will somehow managed to get that new flu bug and the doctor has her on bedrest with absolutely no travel allowed for ten days at least. So no, they're not coming."

Faith enfolded the older woman in a hug. "I'm sorry, B. I know you were lookin' forward to seein' Red and Junior. So was I, to be honest." Faith suddenly smiled a little and shook her head in a bemused fashion.

"What?"

The dark Slayer looked at her girl. "Huh? Oh, I was just thinkin'" She smiled again. "Most powerful magic user on the whole freakin' planet, and she get's taken down by a little bug! That's just classic!" She chuckled again, then looked at Buffy, a twinkle in her eyes. "You realize, that's means we got the place to ourselves again, right B?"

"Hmm?" Buffy focused her eyes on the other woman. "Oh, yeah. I guess we do, Faith."

Faith frowned slightly. [Not the response I was countin' on.] Giving her Slayer a little squeeze, she asked, "Hey, what'cha thinkin' about?"

"It's silly."

"I don't know about silly, but I do know it's buggin' you, so it's buggin' me, too." Faith gave the blonde a reassuring smile. "Tell me what I can do to fix it so it'll quit botherin' both of us, okay?"

The blonde sighed and looked at the floor, still not speaking and Faith waited, as patiently as she could. Finally, the elder Slayer sighed again. "It's just... I wanted everyone to be here. For everything to be perfect. One perfect holiday memory." She looked up and into chocolate eyes, eyes she'd spent a lot of the time in the last seven weeks or so happily lost in. "Was that so much to ask of the PTBs? Just one little thing to go my way?"

Faith kissed her girl's forehead softly, letting her lips stay there for a few seconds before drawing back. "No, B. I don't think it is. I think with everything they've put you through in the last ten years or so, they owe you a few things." She chuckled mirthlessly. "They owe you for dying for the cause three times, if nothin' else."

Buffy stared at the dark Slayer, confusion written on her face. "Three times?" She finally asked, distracted from her moping. "I've only died twice, Faith. How did you get three?"

The brunette frowned a little. [No one's ever told her?] she thought. [They didn't have a problem with her knowin' 'bout the other two.] "Okay, B, stupid question. Remember the asshole who shot you?" The blonde nodded. "Okay, Patch was telling me when I first got back that you bought it again for a few seconds before Red yanked the bullet outta you and kickstarted you again, that's all."

Buffy stood there, stunned, looking at her girlfriend, but not really seeing her as she digested the information. "I died again?"

Faith smiled reassuringly and stroked a hand down the blonde's arm. "Only for a second or so, according to Xander. From what else was goin' on right then, it's no wonder nobody ever mentioned to you. I mean, not sure Red even noticed and from what you and Patch told me happened after that, you guys were a little busy just then anyway, right?"

"Well, yeah, but..."

The dark Slayer shook her head and gave her girl a little squeeze. "No 'buts'. Red fixed you up, even if she was a little nuts right then, and besides, Patch said you were dead longer the first time than that one so I'm not even sure it counts. You're fine now and here with me and that's all that matters now, right?"

Slowly, Buffy's eyes lose their haunted look and she smiled a little. "I'm obsessing again, aren't I?"

Faith smiled in return, then gave the blonde a playful leer, "Yeah, but you're really cute when you're obsessing."

Buffy just rolled her eyes and scoffed, though she also tried to hide a little smile.

The younger Slayer smothered a satisfied grin at successfully diverting her girlfriend from her depressing thoughts. "Listen, I know you wanted Willow and Junior here too, but everyone else is still coming and don't forget, we still have that new boyfriend of Dawnie's to threaten and intimidate, so it'll still be a great time, right?" Faith brushed a few errant blonde locks from the smaller woman's face.

Buffy gave her a small smile. "Yeah, that should be fun. And it'll be good to see Xander and Giles and meet their girlfriends."

"That's the spirit!" Faith praised, giving Buffy a quick kiss. "'Sides, it's only a month 'til your birthday. I'm sure Red'll be okay to travel then and she and Kenn can come help us celebrate. That'll be good, right?" She eyed the blonde hopefully.

Buffy smiled again, bigger, happier this time. "We'll have a great time and break the tradition of Buffy birthdays ending in a disaster."

"Right," Faith cheerfully agreed, giving Buffy a playful kiss on the nose. "We'll start the new tradition of the birthday girl being completely exhausted by nightfall!" She waggled her eyebrows suggestively. She felt a thrill race along her nerves as Buffy's eyes darkened with desire and she felt the blonde shiver deliciously.

"What about the birthday girl's girlfriend? Won't she be exhausted too?"

Faith raised an eyebrow, fighting hard to keep a straight face. "You think you can wear me out, B?"

Buffy responded to the challenge in the younger woman's voice by grinning wickedly. "I think I already have. Remember who fell asleep first last weekend?" She asked sweetly, but with a note of triumph in her voice.

"Okay, yeah. The first time." Faith magnanimously allowed, then gave her girl a smile that was nearly demonic. "What about the second, third and fourth times?"

Buffy shrugged, still smiling as she looked into the deep brown eyes of her lover. "The second and fourth, I'll give you, but hey, you were only about half a second behind me on the third, so don't sound so smug!"

"How would you know, Blondie? You had checked out, remember?"

Buffy looked at the triumphant smirk on Faith's lovely features and rolled her eyes. "Because you woke me back up with your snoring, that's how!"

Faith did her best impression of a "Buffy" pout. "I do not snore!" When the pout didn't work, she growled, still somewhat playfully. "I don't snore B! Admit it! Admit you're makin' it up!"

Buffy laughed delightedly as she shook her head. "Sorry, DC, but you do snore." The blonde tried to wrap her arms around her lover, but Faith shrugged her off. Buffy tried again and this time, the brunette allowed herself to be held, though she stood stiffly in her girl's embrace. "Aw, don't worry, you big baby! It's really faint and you only do it if I completely wear you out, so no big, right?"

Faith maintained her rigidity in Buffy's arms, so the older woman gave her lover a little shake. "C'mon, DC. You can deal with making a cute little noise if I gotta fuck you til you can't move to hear it, right?"

Faith tried valiantly to keep her pissed off expression, but at Buffy's description, she simply melted into the smaller woman's embrace. Her eyes half lidded, she gave Buffy a sulty look and purred, "Well, when you put it that way... Wanna hear it now?"

Buffy looked intrigued, but sighed regretfully. "Wish we could, but we need to get ready to go soon." At Faith's look of incomprehension, Buffy smiled ruefully at her partner's famous bad memory. "We're supposed to patrol tonight, remember?"

Faith just rolled her eyes. "Aw c'mon, B! Can't we get Rona and the girls to cover for us?" She smiled slyly, seductively. "I kinda had plans for after dinner that didn't involve taking down vamps and demons or freezin' our asses off walking around town. 'Sides, she owes us anyway."

Buffy gave her lover a little pout as she shook her head. "She does owe us, but I already promised we'd take patrol since she has a date tonight. A serious one from the sound of it."

Faith's head came up at that. "Serious? How serious?"

"Serious enough that I think Sherry's gonna need a new roommate."

The dark Slayer's eyebrows shot up at that. "Seriously? She's thinking about shackin' up with Vicky?" Faith grinned devilishly as she laughed. "Damn! Thought they were gonna dance around it forever!"

Buffy's smiled matched her girl's. "Apparently, the dance is coming to an end. And you know they both hate it when you call him 'Vicky', not Victor or Vic."

"S'why I do it," the unrepentant Slayer replied. Seeing Buffy about to protest again, she quickly added, "Hey, if we're doin' the patrol tonight, let's get goin', so we can get back before the snow gets really deep." The blonde appeared to consider it for a second or two, then nodded. Faith gave her a smile, then one more quick kiss before releasing her. "Why don't you get ready and I'll get this place shut down, okay? And remember, it's colder'n a well digger's ass out there, so dress like it, okay?"

Buffy gave her a playful look. "You worried about me getting cold, baby?"

"Sure," Faith agreed. "But mostly? I'm worried about me. Every time we go out and you 'forget' to dress for snow and cold, I end up with those blocks of ice you call feet all over me!" She tried to maintain her severe expression, but couldn't hold it, so she shivered theatrically instead.

Buffy smacked her lover's shoulder and gave her a shove. "Not nice!" She declared, though Faith glimpsed a twinkle of laughter in her hazel eyes.

Faith allowed herself to roll with the motion, stopping just out of reach, smirking at the blonde and blowing her a kiss. "Doesn't make any less true, though." She laughed at Buffy's pout, though her libido, barely calmed down from their impromptu make out session, flared again at, in her opinion, one of Buffy's sexiest expressions. Smiling and shaking her head, she stepped closer and gave the older woman a quick kiss. "C'mon, drama queen, let's get dressed and go kill bad guys before I rip your clothes off and spend the rest of the night screwin' you silly."

Buffy smiled mischeviously. "Was that an option or a plan for later?"

The brunette just groaned and rolled her eyes. "You're killin' me here, B."

The only response she got was a tinkling laugh from the blonde as she headed to get ready for patrol.
