Summary: Kennedy visits Willow one last time to clear the air..

A knock caused Buffy to look up from where she was helping with Willow's dress. She looked up at the redhead, but Willow just shrugged her shoulders and called, "Come in!" They both looked at the door expectantly, but no one entered.

"Come in!" Willow half yelled, but still no one opened the door.

Sighing, Buffy stood and walked over, opening the door herself, then froze. Looking back at her was a person she hadn't seen in years and it just couldn't be a coincidence she was here on this particular day.

"Hey," Kennedy said, looking at Buffy and only the blonde. "Can I talk to her for a few minutes?"

Buffy shook her stunned feelings off and replied. "Hey." She turned and looked at Willow, the red head staring at her ex lover with a combination of wonder and horror. Like she couldn't decide on whether to run to her and tackle her in hug or send her away as quickly as possible. It had taken her years to get over the mistake of sending this woman away and seeing her now is a knife in the heart on what should be the happiest day of her life.

Kennedy's eyes move passed the oldest Slayer finally and look at Willow. Her breath catches as she realizes her memory is a woeful substitute for the reality of the witch's beauty and all the old feelings come crashing back with a vengeance. "Hey, Willow. Can we talk? I know my timing probably sucks, but I promise, no last minute pleas or anything stupid. I would just really like to talk."

Willow slowly nods, but Buffy asks, "You sure?" The witch nods again, whispering, "It's ok, Buffy. Give us a few minutes?"

The blonde nods and walks to the door as Kennedy comes in. As they pass, the older Slayer gives the younger a look that needs no words. Hurt her and I'll kill you. Kennedy nods, though she's saddened to learn that Buffy could forget that she can't hurt Willow. Even now.

The door closes and the brunette looks at the woman who was hers. "So, I heard you were getting married. To another witch. Congratulations."

"How- how did you know about that?" Willow asked, her voice still distant and pain-filled.

"Faith. She and I have kept in touch. A little, anyway. When I remember," she answered, somewhat listless and distracted. She looked into Willow's eyes suddenly. "Don't worry. I'm not here to stop it, or beg you to marry me instead. Mostly, I'm here because I've needed to talk to you for years and I felt this was my last real chance."

The redhead narrowed her eyes. "You say you're not here to mess today up, then you say something like that?"

"Will, I'm sorry, I really am. I don't want to interfere with your wedding. I just wanted to finish what we started almost 7 years ago." She takes a deep breath, then lets it out slowly. "When you left me, did Faith tell you anything about it?" The witch shakes her head, her eyes glistening. "I was completely devastated, but I still managed to leave a week later. I went to my sister and she took me in for a year. When I could finally leave her place, I started traveling and I've been doing that ever since.

"I haven't stayed any place longer than six or eight months." She looked away, toward the window and takes another deep breath. when she speaks again, there's a hitch in her voice. "Usually, it would depend on whether I was living with someone, cause I usually leave a town quicker if I'm with a woman. They start talking about how much they love me and I have to leave."

Her eyes have filled and now a tear slowly trails unnoticed down her cheek. She shook her head, realigning her thoughts. "That wasn't really why I came today. I came to tell you this; I still love you. I can't seem to stop and I've tried hard over the years. When I told you then that I loved you with all my heart and soul, I meant it, and you've still got them. I've tried for nearly six years to love someone else, over a dozen times. I never do, cause I can't. You still hold my heart and I don't want it back."

She looked at Willow, tears staining both their faces. "I don't want anything from you, Willow, not now. I said I wasn't here to mess today up for you and I meant it. I just wanted to let you know, no matter what, there will always be someone in this world who loves you, no matter what. If you ever need me, for anything," she stresses the word, "Faith can find me quickly. Again, congratulations. I hope she realizes how lucky she is."

The brunette Slayer turned to go, but a soft voice stopped her. "Kennedy, wait! Please."

She turned back to Willow. "Y-you're not staying?"

Kennedy smiled and it was agonizing for the witch. "Not if I want to keep my promise, so please, don't ask me to." She tried a smirk, tried to seem like her old self. "Besides, a demon told me Tulsa's crawling with vamps right now, so I thought I'd go fix that. Wanna get there by nightfall tomorrow." She turned to go, thrusting her hands in her jacket pockets.

Frowning, she pulled a box out and looked at it. She made a decision and crossed to the witch, holding out her hand. "Here. This is yours and I'm tired of carrying it."

Automatically, Willow held her hand out and Kennedy dropped the box into it. She flinched when she saw a worn velvet box, similar to the one Emily had given her. Her eyes jerked up to Kennedy's and she tried to give the box back.

Kennedy shook her head, saying, "No. It's yours and I don't want it anymore." A war showed on her face, thoughts flitting furiously back and forth for a moment before she admitted, "In fact, the morning you left, it was in my dresser drawer, three feet from where you were."

"Kennedy, I can't take this. For a bunch of reasons, so please..." she extended the box yet again, but Kennedy simply backed up a few steps, toward the door.

"I said, it's yours. Do what you want with it. Keep it, give it to your girl, or Buffy or even throw it out the window, but it's yours." She hesitated for another moment. "I gotta go. Be happy, Will. It's all I want from you, ok?"

She went to the door, then turned back. She held up her hand for a second, then reconsidered and jerked her hand back down. She looked up and took one, last look at the woman she would love forever. "Goodbye, Willow." With that, she wrenched the door open and was gone.
