Chapter 1
Willow is still on the bus as they stop at the first rest area of the day. Her young Slayer lies sleeping in her arms. The redhead presses her lips to her girl's forehead and finds that it is warm. She pulls her tighter, as if the nearness of her body will help battle the intruder.
It's been two days since the traveling began again and two days that her girl has been feeling blucky. The young Slayer has had a fever off and on along with bouts of dizziness and throwing up. Most of her time has been spent sleeping. She eats only when Willow makes it an issue and generally loses it within the hour.
Faith walks onto the bus with Dawn, she glances at D and then at the witch and the Slayer, "Gonna check on Junior-keep my seat warm?" Dawn nods and when they reach their seat she sits and Faith continues to the back. "How's she doing Red?"
"About the same," whispers the woman. "Fever's back-" her eyes meet Faith's and the Slayer can see the worry. "But she'll be fine, she's just all flu-ey."
Faith listens to the words but knows the redhead is trying to convince herself more than anyone. "Red-the flu doesn't last for days-not when you're a Slayer."
"But she's a new Slayer maybe it's different-you don't know-" she starts to battle her emotions.
"I don't-but maybe we should take her to someone that would."
"No-she said no doctor's."
"It's your call-but if she were my girl-" she lets the sentence go unfinished. "You need to go inside? I'll sit with her?"
"I'm fine-" she states her eyes resting on her young Slayer. Faith quietly returns to her seat.
"She has got to be the most stubborn person I know-" says Faith frustrated.
"That's Willow-" smiles Dawn a little sad. "Kennedy still not any better?"
"No-think you can talk her into taking her to a doctor?-It doesn't feel right D."
"I'll try," Dawn presses a kiss to Faith's lips and walks towards the back of the bus. "Hey-Will-want me to get you a mocha?"
"That would be great-" smiles the redhead.
"She doing any better?" Their eyes meet. Willow shakes her head. Dawn sits beside her and looks from Kennedy to the witch. "Willow if she's not better tomorrow-let's get her checked out."
"She doesn't want-" she stops. "I'll talk to her when she wakes up."
"Okay-I'll get you that mocha now." Dawn stands and as she does she kisses Willow on the forehead. "She'll be okay." Willow nods as tears threaten to fall.
Later that evening the bus pulls up to a restaurant and the passengers begin to get off. Faith looks from her girlfriend to the redhead in the back and then at Dawn again, "Save me a seat?"
"No-" she says softly.
Faith looks at her unsure, "I-what-did I do something-" Dawn kisses her lips and Faith looks even more unsure. "I don't get it."
Dawn smiles and kisses her again softly, "You save the seat, let me talk to Will."
"Probably right-" she lets the girl's hand go and gets out of the bus leaving only the witch, the Slayer and the friend.
Dawn walks back and stands next to the redhead, "You need to eat Willow-I'll stay with her."
"We'll be in in a minute-I'm gonna wake her up."
"You got ten, then I send Faith and Buffy after you."
Willow nods and Dawn turns leaving quietly. The redhead looks down at her Slayer. "Sweetie-" she says barely a whisper as she touches her cheek. "Wake up baby-" she kisses her forehead and Kennedy's eyes begin to open. Willow smiles as she sees the chocolate orbs for the first time in hours. "Hey-" she says softly.
"Time is it?" Asks her girl.
"About six-we stopped for dinner. Ready to try to eat a little? Maybe they have jell-o." Expecting to hear her Slayer protest she is shocked by Kennedy's response.
"Rather have a burger, I'm starved."
"Yeah?" The redhead smiles. "Burgers it is then." They stand and Kennedy stretches and Willow pulls her into a hug. "Feeling better?"
"I think so-no dizzy head." They kiss chastely and start off the bus.
The others have finished and Kennedy is on her third plate of food. She started with a burger and fries and then decided she wanted the breakfast she missed. She ordered and then devoured- three eggs, three pancakes, bacon and orange juice. Those around smile knowingly at the appetite. After a piece of pie with ice cream she smiles at Willow who just looks amazed, "Tummy still okay?"
"Yep-thinking about a milkshake for the road."
Faith laughs and shakes her head, she whispers to Dawn, "Maybe she doesn't need a doctor-maybe Red just wore her out." She smirks and raises a playful eyebrow. Dawn giggles but then smacks her arm.
Kennedy looks at the Slayer unsure, "Still think my Slayer hearing could use some work-but I know it was about me," she glares.
"Nah-Junior-just glad you're feeling better."
The bus continues through the night though some of the young Slayers complain wanting to get a hotel. Giles finally compromises and they agree to stop the next night.
Faith and Dawn are wrapped in each other's arms. They kiss softly as most of the occupants of the bus sleep. Dawn's hand slips to the Slayer's shoulder as her lips find the spot on her neck that melts the once rogue Slayer. "D-" she moans as the hand moves to her breast.
"Shhhh-" cautions the teenager as her lips and tongue continue to drive the Slayer crazy.
Faith finally pulls the teenager's lips back to hers and the kiss deepens instantly. Her breathing ragged and her body humming, Faith finally backs away. "Need a break-" she states as she works to calm her raging hormones. She licks her lips and runs her fingers through her hair.
"So you liked-" Dawn stops unsure. "Really?"
"Shit-D-you make it hard to-I love when you touch me." They kiss again and again Faith trying desperately to stay in control, looks the teenager in the eyes. "But-we need to-I don't want you to feel like you have to-" she presses another kiss to her lips and puts her hand on her girlfriend's cheek. "I want things to be right-I want the dating and the making out-" she pauses, "And I'd be lying if I said I didn't want the sex-but-it can wait."
"What if I don't want it to wait?" Dawn's words surprised her.
"D-damn girl-a part of me says let's go-right here right now." Dawn's eyes go wide in shock. "But that part of me is as horny as hell-" she smiles. "We're waiting-cause-it's the right thing Dawn we both know it."
"Yeah-" agrees the teenager. "But someday?"
"Someday-that's a promise."
"So," she smiles and leans in to kiss the Slayer. "Can we make out some more?" Faith simply pulls her into a passionate kiss.
Farther back Willow and Kennedy are spooned together on the back seat. Kennedy turns in her redhead's arms and kisses her softly. Willow smiles down at her, "You should rest," she whispers.
"Rested all day Red-don't wanna rest now-wanna kiss you." She leans in and her lips capture her witch's. They begin to move together-opening and closing in a steady rhythm. She pulls out of the kiss, "Mmm-missed this."
"Me too," Willow initiates this kiss and soon tongues begin to play together. They both moan as hands find bodies and slip under clothes. "Kennedy," she whispers, "we shouldn't."
"I'm okay-I promise." She pauses and then kisses her again. She makes her way to the redhead's ear and then her neck and she kisses there and teases with her tongue. She moves her lips back to her girl's ear and it causes her to shiver. "I need to feel you-touch you so bad." They kiss again and Willow allows her young Slayer to turn her to her back. Kennedy crawls over her and they kiss again as she sits straddle her redhead. Willow moans and arches her body against her lover's. Kennedy slides down her and presses their bodies together. The redhead moans again as her hands find Kennedy's waist and work their way to soft skin. The young Slayer moves slightly to the left to give herself room to work on the buttons of her girl's jeans.
Around her neck the charm begins to glow as her fingers slip under the redhead's panties.
A few seats away, Dawn who is now in Faith's lap sees the light from the back, "See that?" She asks as Faith continues to kiss and nip at her neck.
"See what?" Faith pulls back and they both look at the light. "What is it?"
"Don't know-" they hear a moan and Dawn smiles, "But that I definitely can identify."
"Red-" she smiles.
"Yeah-Kennedy's good-"
"Excuse me," Faith looks at her girl unsure. Dawn panics, "No-not-I mean she feels-" Faith raises an eyebrow and smirks. "She's not sick anymore-okay?" She fights the blush of embarrassment away. "Now kiss me." Faith kisses her lips but pulls away as they hear not so good noises from the back.
Kennedy is again pale and as she tries to stand she grabs the seat in front of her, Willow who is trying to fix her buttons on her pants, is terrified-she shouts "Kennedy-" as she watches her young Slayer collapses again. The green glow of the necklace disappears as Faith and Dawn reach the back. "She was-we were and then-"
"What was the glowyness I saw?" Questions Dawn. Willow looks worried and confused as she kneels beside her girl.
Chapter 2
Kennedy sits between the redhead's legs with her back resting against her girl's chest. Willow's arms hold her young Slayer around the waist, while she rests her chin on her shoulder. "You asleep?" She asks barely a whisper. She feels Kennedy shake her head slightly. "Please baby?-I want you to be okay."
"I hate doctors," is the young Slayer's answer, her voice sounding suddenly much younger than her years.
"I know," she presses a kiss to her cheek.
"It's just the flu-" she tries again.
"What if it's not-what if-" her words stop and Kennedy can hear her redhead sniff back tears. "Please?"
The young Slayer pulls Willow's hand to her lips and kisses it, then wraps it back around her. Willow tightens her hold. "Okay-" she concedes, "For you." Tears slip from the redhead's eyes as she breathes a sigh of relief.
Dawn is asleep with her head on Faith's shoulder. The Slayer moves, careful not to wake her and walks toward the front of the bus. She sits down in the seat in front of the blonde Slayer and she looks up at her. "Hey-everything okay back there?"
"Red finally talked her into seeing a doctor," says Faith.
"Good-I'll have Giles call someone when we get to the next town." Faith doesn't move, "Something else on your mind?"
"B-" she stops, "It's gonna sound crazy-" Buffy smiles.
Faith shakes her head and rolls her eyes, "Go a little psycho once and-" she lets the sentence fade as she jokes. "Serious B-"
"Okay-F-" she smiles again.
"You're impossible," she finally just says it. "Before Kennedy passed out-there was this glowing light in the back of the bus."
"Like a truck light shining in the window?"
"No-it was kinda green-it was definitely not normal."
"What caused it?" Asks Buffy suddenly serious.
"Not sure-couldn't see. Red might have, but she was pretty upset."
"I'll talk to her later."
"Cool-just thought you should know." She stands as they grow silent.
"Faith?"
"Yeah B-?"
"Dawn-" she stops. "Nothing-get some sleep."
"Right-" she walks back to her seat and carefully gets in next to Dawn who instantly wraps her arms around the Slayer. Faith smiles and kisses her forehead. Dawn's eyes open slowly. "Go back to sleep."
"Kennedy?"
"Better-Red's taking care of her," assures Faith. Dawn's eyes close slowly as the Slayer holds her protectively. "Sleep," she whispers, her lips brushing against the teenager's cheek.
"Mmmm-okay-" she turns just enough to kiss the Slayer. "Night."
"Night-D-" she smiles as she starts to think about the teenager in her arms. How had she found her way into her heart so quickly? She shakes her head and closes her eyes. "Don't let me fuck this up," she whispers barely audible.
That next town ended up only twenty miles away. Giles found a hotel, made room arrangements and then contacted a doctor to schedule an appointment for the young Slayer.
That night, well morning finds the young Slayer and the witch snuggled together in an oversized chair next to the window watching the sunrise. Kennedy whines, using her little girl voice- "Don't want to go."
"I know," says the redhead. She turns the young woman to face her and smiles, "But if you do, there might be a reward for being a brave little Slayer."
"Don't need money-got money."
"It's not money," smiles the redhead.
"What is it?"
"I can't tell you-"
"Will I like it?" Asks Kennedy.
"Promise you that-" she smirks.
The young Slayer stands, "I should take a shower."
"You be okay?" Asks Willow worried that she might get dizzy and faint again.
"I might need help," she smiles.
"Someone to wash your back?" Willow plays along.
"That's a start," the young Slayer smirks and bites her bottom lip.
Later Willow and Kennedy are sitting in the doctor's office. The young Slayer is filling out the forms needed. She is checking boxes as she thinks about each. "Date of last period?" She looks at the redhead. "Please let's just go and tell the others it's the flu-" her eyes meet Willow's.
"You should stay-I'll help with the questions."
"Why do they need to know this stuff?" She pauses. "It's personal-look-" she reads the next question. "Are you sexually active?"
The redhead blushes and then smirks as she fills in the appropriate blank. "Too bad there's not a place to explain."
She smiles as Kennedy glares, "Give me that back-" she says as she takes the clipboard and begins to finish the questions.
An hour passes and now they sit together in an exam room. Kennedy is in a gown as she fidgets. "This is crazy-it's been hours," she pouts.
"Not hours-he'll be here soon," she assures her Slayer. She looks up as she hears a knock, "See-" smiles Willow. "Come in," answers the redhead. The door opens and he walks inside.
"Doctor Beecher," he holds out his hand and they each shake it. "What seems to be the problem?"
Kennedy answers, her voice suddenly sure and her attitude back, "The flu-but I can't seem to shake it."
"Symptoms?" He asks as he begins to write on the chart.
"Ah-tired, dizzy-"
Willow interjects, "She can't keep anything down."
"And then dome days I can't eat enough."
He reads over the questionnaire that she completed, "How long have you felt like this?"
Kennedy looks to Willow and then back to the doctor- "Ah-week," she says.
"Maybe a little longer," adds the redhead.
His eyes meet Kennedy's as he asks his question, "Could you be pregnant?"
"No-" she says with certainty.
"No possibility?"
"No-" she repeats this time her tone is sharp.
"Then you accidentally marked the wrong box here?" He holds the form for her to see.
"No-" she says her word a little less sure as she tries to read his accusations.
"If you're sexually active then there's always the possibility of-"
Willow cuts him off, "Not so much, when the sex is with another girl." Her eyes meet his as her hand laces with her young Slayers. He quickly buries his surprised expression.
Later as the young Slayer and her redhead walk toward the hotel Kennedy stops her and looks at her redhead with a slight smile, "You know, he was just doing his job Red."
"I know," she admits, "But I didn't like his tone-" she presses a kiss to Kennedy's lips and then wraps her in her arms. "Two days before the blood work's back-if this were LA, we'd know today."
"It's not so bad-the waiting."
Willow looks at her unsure, "Who are you and what have you done with my girlfriend?"
Kennedy smiles and kisses her again, "Gives us time to-," she stops as Willow blushes. "And in a real bed too," she smirks and raises an eyebrow suggestively. The witch shakes her head at her Slayer.
Before going to their room they stop by Buffy's and fill her in on the day. As they walk down the hallway they see Faith and Dawn walking toward them hand-in-hand. "Hey Junior what did the doctor say?"
"He did blood work-said he'd call in a couple of days," answers Kennedy.
"So no bus?" Dawn smiles.
"No bus-nice soft beds and bathtubs-" she can't stop the smile that covers her face as she squeezes her Slayer's hand.
Faith smiles, "We're on our way to grab some lunch and then maybe see if there's a dance club close by for later-you guys in?"
Willow looks at Kennedy, her girl's face is still a little pale. The redhead shakes her head. "Maybe we'll go to the club later-but I think sleeping is next on the list."
"Sleeping?" Says Dawn rolling her eyes. "Right."
"Hey-we sleep," defends Kennedy.
"Not as often as you f-"
Dawn cuts her off finishing the sentence as Willow blushes bright red, "As-y-you do other things," she pulls a laughing Faith to the stairs.
Kennedy hugs her witch to her with a smile, "She's right," Willow elbows her. "What? She is."
Willow glares playfully, "You're so gonna pay for that." Kennedy's smile fades.
Later in their room, the young Slayer writhes under the witch as she makes her payments in full. Willow keeps her promises both of them, first she teases her Slayer for agreeing with Faith and then rewards her for going to the doctor.
As the redhead's fingers find a steady rhythm, she returns her lips to her lover's neck. She licks and nips there, before moving down her Slayer's sweating body to plant kisses on her neck. She stops all movement as her eyes see the glowing pendent there. Her eyes go wide as she stares at the object. Kennedy whines, "Don't stop-please-so close Will-" she forces her eyes open and sees the panic on her redhead's face. "Red?"
"Baby-" she looks at the necklace and Kennedy's eyes follow-"
"What the hell?" Asks the Slayer her hand going to her throat.
Chapter 3
Willow holds Kennedy's hair back as she hugs the toilet, still throwing up. She wipes her young Slayer's face with a cool, wet cloth. "Let's try to get you back in bed baby," says the redhead softly after they sit unmoving for a few more minutes.
"I'll just have to come back-" states Kennedy.
"Be right back," her lover places a kiss on her forehead and leaves momentarily. She returns with a pillow and two blankets. She fixes a makeshift bed on the floor and the young Slayer lays down. "Better?"
"Yeah-" she says softly as she lays her head on the pillow and Willow wraps her in her arms. The young woman closes her eyes and is instantly asleep.
Willow looks down at the necklace still around her girl's neck and carefully removes it. She stares at it-then simply holds it-it's faint glow returning and then disappearing.
Later Kennedy is feeling better. They are back in bed and the necklace now lays on the bed between the two lovers. Kennedy watches her redhead as she hits keys on her laptop. "Anything?" She asks again for the third time in the last five minutes.
Willow's fingers stop and she looks into her young Slayer's eyes, "It's gonna take a while-" she reaches forward and touches the brunette's chest where the necklace had rested. "Did it hurt you?"
"I-no-I don't think-is that's what's making me sick?"
"I don't know-" she says her fingers still clicking buttons.
"What makes it- why was it-what caused it to glow?"
"Im not sure-still looking for anything that looks like it." She types again and a group of pictures appear. Looking through them, they find nothing similar. "I could guess-" she stops.
"Okay-best guess," Kennedy's eyes meet hers and she bites her bottom lip.
"Well our bodies are kind of electrical-" the young woman looks confused. "I mean doctors' use EKG's and EEG's to check electrical activities in our hearts and our brains-"
"With you so far," states the young Slayer.
"Some cultures believe our body has energy centers-"
"Chakras?"
"Right-how did you-"
"My Watcher-" she says simply.
"Things glow-or appear brighter usually because there's an increase in energy-and since you're a Slayer your energy is more than before."
"So it's a Slayer thing?"
"Not totally-it has something to do with the necklace-"
"And the sex," adds Kennedy.
Willow blushes, but nods- "The-when we-" she smiles, "It causes a major energy release-" she turns redder still as Kennedy smirks.
"Major release all right," she smiles and kisses Willow softly on the lips.
"And poof-it's all glowy."
"Makes sense," says Kennedy accepting her girl's words. She picks up the necklace and holds it toward the redhead, "Put it back on for me?"
"Kennedy-I'm not sure you should. We still don't know if there's anything else, it's a charm-magic-it could be dangerous."
"A wish charm-maybe-you said yourself the guy might have just said that to sale it."
"Let's wait-" she says worry evident in her voice. "Let me research a little more?"
"Okay, " she leans forward and presses a kiss to her redhead's lips. "You research, I'll find dinner."
"Deal-" she smiles and they kiss again. Kennedy slides out of bed and walks toward the bathroom as Willow types again. This time entering the words Cats Eye remembering that was what the man called it.
A few seconds later the screen is filled with pictures and words. Willow smiles, "Got you-" she begins to read. As she does she starts to worry- "Shit!" she states and begins to mumble the words as if hearing them will make them different somehow. "In the Wiccan religion-so it's real. Okay-don't panic cause Wicca is good, peaceful-so it didn't hurt her." Her babble stops as she scans the words- supreme happiness'- "Again good."-- Protection.' She stops as one word stands out, almost jumps out from the page, "Fertility-" her eyes go wide.
"Willow-" she closes the laptop as Kennedy comes back into the room. "I'm going now-" she kisses Willow's lips. "Find anything?" Willow shakes her head knowing if she speaks she won't be able to lie to her Slayer. "Won't be long-" says the young woman.
"Check with Faith about the dancing-" she says trying to buy herself time. She needs to talk with both Buffy and Giles-maybe even Althenna at the coven, this could be bad very bad. Kennedy nods, kisses her again a little more heatedly and leaves with a smile. The redhead smiles back-and touches her girl's cheek. Her Slayer leaves.
"This is bad-" she mumbles over and over as she gets up and gathers things from the room. She picks up the necklace, her laptop and a book from the dresser. "Bad-bad-bad-" she goes out the door toward the blonde Slayer's room.
Chapter 4
"Slow down Willow-from the beginning one more time," says Buffy as she leads the redhead to her bed. They stand beside it facing each other, Xander stands by the door.
"The necklace-it's a called a Cat's Eye-the green-see the green?" She points to the stone.
"Yeah-Kennedy's birthday present-it's very pretty."
"It's ah-a charm like he said-but not for wishing." Xander hears the panic rising in her voice and walks over to his lifelong friend.
He takes the laptop and the book, then sets them on the night stand, "What's it do Will-?"
"It does lots of things-" she stops.
"Bad things?" He asks.
"Not bad it theory-but so, so bad-" she fights tears as they start to fall down her cheeks.
"Come on Will sit down," she sits and Buffy sits beside her. "It's a charm and it's bad-how bad?-We talking apocalyptic bad?"
"Well ah-no-but-" she buries her face in her hands and Buffy looks to Xander who has booted up the computer and started checking her bookmarks. He searches and finds the Cat's Eye and begins to read-he looks up at the Slayer.
She quietly gets up and walks to his side. She reads the words as well. "It's used for fertility?" Willow nods as Buffy looks at her.
"But still no Y so she can't be-can she?" Asks the man.
"It's magic Xander-I don't think we need one."
"Are you saying she's pregnant?"
"I-she-she could be."
Buffy stares from the redhead to the necklace and back to the upset witch. "Has she seen this?" Willow shakes her head.
Xander looks unsure as he sits beside his friend, "You have to tell her."
"I know-but I wanted to talk to Giles and the coven first; find out more."
Buffy picks up the phone, it rings and Giles picks it up, "Giles-could you meet us in my room?" Pause and she raises both hands in a sort of surrender, "Problem-ah-a tiny one." Willow rolls her eyes at Buffy's attempt at humor. "Great, we'll be here." She hangs up the phone.
A few minutes later Giles is pacing the room. He stops, takes off his glasses and cleans them. He mutters softly, "Good lord." His eyes settle on the redheaded witch who is now sitting in an oversized chair by the window. "Willow-" he speaks softly, calmly. She looks up to meet his gaze and tears slip down her cheeks. "I'll call the coven at once. Is there anything else you can tell me about the charm or the man who sold it to you?"
"No-" she says softly.
Buffy intercedes, "It glows."
"Excuse me?" Giles comments.
"It gets all glowy-when we-" the witch stops and blushes Willowred. "You know."
"Indeed," he turns to the phone.
Xander sits on the arm of the chair next to his best friend, "How can you still blush?" He asks and Willow rolls her eyes at him. "I'm serious-if you can have sex on a bus full of people-Slayers who can hear everything-how can you not say it?"
She shakes her head, and then shrugs- "Can't explain it," she smiles a slight smile but it fades quickly.
Later they gang is at the club-they are all sitting around a table listening to the band play. Xander looks at Willow who is holding tightly to Kennedy's hand. "I'm gonna get a beer-anyone else?"
"Sounds good-" Buffy smiles.
"I'll take one too," says Faith.
"Count me in-" says Kennedy.
"No-" says Willow without thinking and Kennedy looks at her puzzled.
Buffy speaks, "Still not twenty-one."
"Cut Junior a break-" she stops when she feels a kick to each shin, one from the redhead and one from the Slayer. She glares from one to the other. "Why did you just-" Dawn kisses her stopping her words after catching a pleading look in her sister's eyes.
"Let's dance." She stands and takes Faith's hand.
"Can't say no to you-" she softens with a smile. She looks back at Buffy, "We'll talk later."
Dawn and Faith move to the dance floor. Xander goes to get drinks and Buffy decides to keep him company-not liking the sudden tension at the table, that leaves Willow alone with her pouting Slayer.
"Want to dance?" Asks the redhead.
"I want a beer-it's not like I haven't had one before." Her tone is edging on angry.
Frustrated, nervous and just plain tired the witch stands, "Then I'll get you one," she stands and as she starts away Kennedy takes her arm. She looks down at her unsure.
"I'm sorry-the beer's no big deal. Let's dance." Willow smiles and takes her girlfriend's hand as she stands. They move to the dance floor.
Later they are still dancing-lost in each other as the song changes from fast to slow. They drift into each other's arms and begin to sway to the music. Willow's head rests on her young Slayer's shoulder-her arms around her neck as she pulls their bodies together.
Across the dance floor Faith and Dawn are dancing in each other's arms as well. The Slayer's head rests on the taller girl's shoulder and Dawn holds her tightly against her. Faith's eyes are closed as she let's the music guide her. Dawn's lips kiss her cheek and then her ear as she speaks softly-so softly that only her Slayer hearing allows the words to reach her, "I love you." Faith's eyes open wide and she pulls back slightly her eyes meeting Dawn's. The teenager is surprised. "Damn-you heard-you weren't supposed to cause-I hate Slayer hearing."
"Let's get out of here." Faith says a little rattled.
"Are you freaked?"
"We need to talk-" says the older woman and Dawn simply nods.
Buffy and Xander sit at the table and watch their friends. Faith and Dawn return to the table in the middle of the song, "We're gonna grab ice cream and go back to the hotel," Faith tells them.
"Something wrong?" Asks Buffy, her eyes meeting her sister's.
"No-just a little tired and in need of ice cream." They start to leave hand-in-hand.
Xander speaks, "Be careful-"
"Every day in every way," smirks the once rogue Slayer deciding to give a little payback for the blonde Slayer kicking her. They leave and Buffy stands.
Xander's hand on hers stops her, "Where are you going?"
"I should make sure there are no vampires-" she lies.
"Faith's a Slayer-she's safe."
"Not safe from her," she pouts. "Did you see that look?"
"She was teasing you-you know that."
"What if she wasn't?"
"Buffy my friend you worry too much about things you shouldn't."
"I shouldn't worry that my little sister might be having sex with Faith?"
"They're not-"
"You don't know that-" he looks at her and she is puzzled, "You do know that-how?"
"Dawn and I talk-" he admits.
"She talks to you about-" Buffy stops.
"Sex-yes-are you channeling Willow?"
"No-sex-see-why is she talking to you?"
"Cause you're her sister-and there's a rule-and Willow's been busy with Kennedy all flu-ey-or pregnant which ever the case may be."
"So they're not?"
"No-so relax-and have some fun."
"Will you dance with me?"
"Wouldn't say no-if you promise you'll tell me if I trample your feet. Still not got the depth perception down all the time."
"Don't blame it on the patch-you stepped on my feet before."
She smiles and he blushes, "True." They stand.
Faith and Dawn are at the hotel, the Slayer paces the room and Dawn watches nervously. Finally Faith stops at the window and stares out. The teenager decides that they need to talk. She walks over to Faith and puts her arms around her waist from behind. She presses a kiss to her neck. "Faith-I didn't mean-you weren't suppose to hear."
"Why?" She asks softly. "Because it's not true?"
"No-because you're not ready to hear it and I understand that."
"So you mean it-what you said?"
"I love you-" she says again softly. "I do." She restates.
Faith moves out of her arms and begins to pace again. Dawn crosses her arms around her own waist and watches, worried. "D-" tries Faith as she stops and faces her. "I can't-"
Dawn walks to her and wraps her in her arms. She places a soft kiss on her lips, "You don't have too-" she holds her quietly. "Okay?" The Slayer nods, her head on her girlfriend's shoulder.
Later Faith and Dawn are making out on the bed. Dawn lies under the Slayer, her arms locked around her girl's waist holding them tightly together. Their lips separate and Faith searches out soft skin at the teenager's pulse point. She kisses and nips there playfully, before bringing the skin between her lips. She begins to suck gently at first but then with more need-marking Dawn for the first time. She pulls away when she hears a moan. "Shit-" she lays her head on her girl's shoulder when she sees the mark. "Sorry Dawn-" she forces the words, her breath racing.
Dawn turns them and pins the Slayer under her, she bits her lip and smiles down at Faith, "Are not-"
The Slayer confesses, "You're right," she kisses the teenager above her. "Want everyone to know you're mine."
Dawn smiles and their lips meet in a scorching kiss. Lips open and close together and tongues explore. Dawn breaks it and her lips travel to Faith's neck and she smirks, "Mine," she whispers as she licks and suckles there leaving a mark of her own.
Faith's humming body is threatening to take charge as they kiss again and hands roam-traveling over covered skin. Dawn yelps surprised as she finds their positions reversed and Faith's hands begin to massage her breasts. They both moan at the sensations coursing through their bodies. The Slayer pulls out of the kiss and Dawn whimpers at the loss until she feels lips on her neck again. After a few minutes of teasing there-soft kisses and gentle nips, Faith begins to move lower. Her lips replace a her left hand as Dawn moans and arches into her-she moans louder as the Slayer's teeth scrape over a hardening peak through the material of her clothes. "Gods-" cries the girl as her hands find their way around clothes to the bare skin of Faith's back. The Slayer moves to the over side treating it the same and feels Dawn's hands slide higher pulling her tank up even more. She fights for composer and sits up. She looks down at the girl beneath her as they both struggle for breath. Dawn smiles and sits up as well which causes the Slayer to rest on her lap. Dawn leans in and kisses her Slayer's lips and it is instantly intense.
Faith pulls away again, "We gotta stop," she pants, her words voicing the logical but her body wanting to be anything but. She looks across at the teenager-they both are breathing heavily.
Dawn shakes her head as her hands go to the bottom of her own shirt- "Not stopping this time," she watches Faith's eyes as she pulls the shirt up and then off her body.
"D-" she looks at the half dressed teenager. "We can't-" she protests.
"We won't-just," she reaches across and takes Faith's tank top in her hands and pulls it over her Slayer's head. She stares at the woman's toned body- "Beautiful," she smiles as she touches Faith's abs, her fingers teasing-barely touching.
Faith gasps at her touch and fights to stay in control, she trembles against the teenager's fingers as they trace patterns on her hot skin. Her breathing speeds and her heart races, "Dawnie-" she licks her own lips.
Dawn leans in and kisses her softly. Lips begin to open and close together as Faith puts her hands on Dawn's shoulders. She lets them travel down her girlfriend's arms and back. Faith leans forward pressing the younger woman to the bed. She begins to kiss down her neck, across her collarbone and to her stomach. Dawn moans loudly as she tries to pull the Slayer back to her lips unsuccessfully. She gets lost and calls Faith's name as she feels her hands tracing her bare skin and then a tongue dip into her bellybutton. She arches off the bed and tangles her hands in Faith's hair. "Yes-don't stop-" she gasps. Then somewhere in the Slayer's mind her actions begin to register and she stops. "No-"whines the teenager-her body on fire.
Faith sits up and picks up her shirt as she tries to calm her racing heart and control the want, the desire that is raging within her. She slips the shirt back on as she stands. "Okay-" she smiles, "That was-" she shakes her head. "Stopping now and I need," she is surprised to feel Dawn's lips on hers as the young woman stands next to her.
"I know what you need," her hand caresses Faith's breast through the clothes once more. Faith's eyes close as she starts to get lost again. Dawn kisses her and as one hand continues to tease her breast the over moves down her body to the belt on Faith's jeans. She unhooks it and then moves to the button there.
Faith's hand stops hers, her eyes meet Dawn's- "Listen-I want but we can't-" she tells her girlfriend.
"Why-because I'm not eighteen?" Faith looks at her unsure. "Didn't think that would be a big deal."
"And its not-okay-I just-we're not."
"How's that fair-why is the decision just yours?"
"D-you have to trust me."
"I do," she says as she kisses the Slayer again.
Faith breaks the kiss and leans her forehead against Dawn's, "Then know now's not the time."
"Okay-" she says simply. She presses a chaste kiss to her lips and smiles, "Let's get some ice cream."
"That should cool things off-" she smiles back. "Might wanna get your shirt."
"Right," she rolls her eyes.
Down the hallway Kennedy and Willow just walk into their room. Kennedy closes the door and presses her redhead against it as they kiss. Her hands begin to map out the body beneath and the redhead moans. She breaks the kiss, "We shouldn't-" she pants-her eyes meeting Kennedy's.
"Why's that?" She asks as she places a leg between Willow's and puts gentle pressure against her girl's center.
Willow tries to focus on the words she needs to say, "I need to talk to you about something."
Kennedy kisses her again, she licks Willow's bottom lip asking permission to enter her mouth and receiving it. Her tongue probes gently at first, teasing and then she begins to suck on it. Willow's moans louder and starts to ride her Slayer's thigh. "Talk later," pants Kennedy as she breaks the kiss for air.
"Okay-" she surrenders and lets herself go.
Later, as morning tries to peek its way through the window Willow lies awake. She is holding the necklace in one hand as she looks at the sleeping woman beside her. She lets one hand wander the naked body of her lover and it stops, resting on her stomach. She lets her fingers trace gently there and her mind begins to race. "A baby," she whispers.
"You say something Red?" Her Slayer's eyes open and she turns to snuggle against her.
"No-" she presses a kiss to her lips. "Sleep." Kennedy's eyes close and Willow pulls her closer still as she holds her in her arms. What have I done?' Her mind begins its babble as sleep continues to elude the redhead.
Chapter 5
Hours later Willow is spooned around her Slayer, her hands still resting on her stomach-gently stroking. She presses a kiss to her girl's neck and carefully unwraps herself. She moves to the dresser and gets out a tank top and a pair of sweats, she slips them on. After running a brush through her hair, she picks up her laptop and goes quietly out the door.
Kennedy stretches and then whines when she realizes her redhead is gone from the bed. She opens her eyes and looks around the room, still no sign of her lover. She sits up and immediately gets queasy. She slides off the bed and runs into the bathroom.
In the coffee shop of the hotel Willow sits with her laptop. She sips a mocha as she looks at the blank screen. Setting the cup down she begins to type. She reads the words and then stops-after a few seconds she hits the search button. The screen fills with websites for expectant mothers. She takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly and clicks the first site. As it appears on the monitor she begins to read the menu- the first one catches her eye, "Ten signs you're pregnant-" she whispers. "I guess that's the place to start." She reads the list and in her mind she checks each yes or no. She is lost in thought as she feels a hand on her shoulder. She closes the laptop and looks up to see Kennedy there. "Hey sweetie." She sees her pale face, "Awe- you feeling yucky again?" Kennedy nods and the redhead stands pulling her into a gentle hug. "Wanna try something to settle your tummy?"
"Just hold me?" She says softly.
"Always," she presses a kiss to her temple. "Still researching the necklace?"
"Sort of-ah-" she pauses, "About that-the talking I wanted to do last night."
"Can it wait till my head isn't all spinny?"
"I guess-let's get you back upstairs."
"Okay-" agrees her young Slayer.
Later Kennedy is sleeping while the redhead is again reading from her computer on the other side of the bed. Willow is now reading about things that will help with morning sickness. She is making a list on a small notepad. She writes crackers before getting out of bed, ginger ale-then before she can continue Kennedy turns toward her and her eyes open slowly. "Hey-" the young Slayer whispers.
"Hey to you-feeling any better?"
"I think so-" she slowly sits up. Willow leans and kisses her as she turns the computer off and sets it on the nightstand. Kennedy snuggles against her-her head resting on her girl's shoulder.
"Think you can eat a little lunch or is your tummy still grumbly?"
She makes a face, "Better wait."
"Okay-" she presses a kiss to her forehead.
After a few minutes of quiet Kennedy speaks, "Will-what's with computer girl all of a sudden?"
"That-well-I've been looking up the necklace and stuff-" she admits.
"What did you find?" Kennedy turns slightly in her arms so she can see her face.
"It's a Wiccan charm."
"So the guy told the truth?"
"Not exactly-it doesn't grant wishes."
"Then whats it do?"
"Lots of things-" she pauses and starts to explain to her Slayer. "It's called the Cats Eye-and it comes in different colors."
"And the colors do different things?"
"Right-green helps awareness-brings happiness-"
"Sounds good so far," she presses a kiss to Willow's lips.
"It brings luck and helps with-with fertility-and-" she stops waiting for her Slayer's reaction.
"Fertility-fertility as in babies?" Willow nods. "Willow am I-" she stops and slides out of bed. She stands looking at her redhead. "Am I pregnant?" Willow moves out of the bed and to her Slayer. She tries to wrap her in her arms but Kennedy backs away, holding up her hand. "Am I?" Her confused brown meet sad green. "No-I can't be-" she begins to pace around the room. "Cause we're both girls and girls can't-" she stops and tears start. Willow walks to her and pulls her into a hug. She holds her tightly and they both cry.
Later a calmer Kennedy sits in the chair staring out the window. Willow walks over and sits on the arm and their eyes meet. "What am I going to do Will?"
"Let's wait for the doctor to call before we-you might not be."
There is silence then Kennedy laughs slightly- "I can see the arrogant look when he tells us-that whole your girlfriend slept with a guy smirk-" she can feel the anger building.
"We'll call and talk to the secretary."
"Okay-" she is silent again and suddenly tears slip from her eyes.
"Shhh-" Willow pulls her into a hug. "It'll be okay."
She pulls away and stands, "It's not okay-it's not. I can't have a kid-I can't." She starts to the door.
"Kennedy-" Willow's tone is full of concern.
"I need air," she says without stopping. "Gotta think-" Willow stands and looks at the open door.
"That went well-" she rolls her eyes and runs her fingers through her hair.
Hours later Kennedy still hasn't returned. Willow walks down the hallway and knocks on the door to Faith's room. She doesn't get an answer but knocks again. A few seconds later Faith, her tank top turned inside out, opens the door. She looks surprised to see her, "Red."
"Sorry-I-"
"It's okay-needed a break-" she smiles leaning on the doorframe. "What's up?"
"Have you seen Kennedy?" She pauses and though she is still worried smiles, "I'm guessing no-" again a pause, "I'll let you get back to-" she turns and starts to leave but feels a hand on her shoulder.
"What's going on Red?"
"She's-long story-she went out a few hours ago. She needed some time to think."
"Want me to help you look for her?"
"No-I'll find her." Again silence and then a wicked smile. "Tell Dawnie hi." She leaves and Faith smiles as she goes back into the room.
The teenager is lying on the bed, her shirt tossed over a chair. Faith walks back and sits down next to her. "Is Willow okay?"
"Seemed a little-" she stops trying to think of the right word. "Upset-that's not really the right word-more worried."
"Think she and Kennedy had a fight?"
"Maybe-but if they did, they'll work it out." She crawls to lie next to her girlfriend and their lips meet in a tender kiss. "Where were we?" She smiles.
"Right about here," she smiles as she pulls the Slayer on top of her and their lips meet again. As they break the kiss Dawn works Faith's tank top up and then over her head and tosses it across the room. "Better-" she smiles as her fingers tease bare skin.
Willow is walking through a nearby park, she sees Kennedy sitting on a bench watching some little kids play. She walks up to her and puts a hand on her shoulder. Kennedy turns and their eyes meet. "I got worried-"
"Sorry-guess I lost track of time." Willow moves beside her and takes her hand is hers. They sit together in silence for a few minutes. "I was thinking that I could buy a test and I wouldn't have to wait."
"We can do that-" assures Willow as a tear slips down the young Slayer's face. The redhead reaches up and brushes it away.
"Okay-so-drugstore right?"
"Yeah-" she answers. The young Slayer doesn't move, she just looks back at the kids. Willow squeezes her hand and then stands.
Kennedy stands too, "Willow-" she stops and the tears start again. Willow holds her tightly.
Later the young Slayer sits on the bed with the box in her hands. She's been that way for the last ten minutes. Willow sits behind her with her arms around her waist. "You don't have to-" she whispers softly. "We can wait for the blood work."
"I can't be pregnant Will-" she says softly.
"I know it's a lot-but if you are, we'll deal with it. I promise-" she presses a kiss to the back of her head. She leaves her face resting there.
"You don't understand-" tears stream down her face. "There's so much I haven't told you-" she turns in the redhead's arms and Willow pulls her onto her lap.
"Shhhhh-sweetie-don't cry." She whispers trying to calm her- "Shhhh-I'm right here-not leaving-I'm right here."
After another fifteen minutes of tears and fears, Kennedy wipes her eyes and uncurls herself from her redhead's arms. "Let's do it-" she looks back at her girl. Willow stands too and they walk to the bathroom. Willow stands at the door as she watches Kennedy read the box one more time. "Just pee on the stick and wait-right?"
Willow nods and gives her girl's hand a gentle squeeze before letting it go. She places a soft kiss on her lips, "I'll be right here." Kennedy nods and closes the door.
Willow is holding the young Slayer as she cries, the stick clutched in her hand, the plus sign evident. "No-no-" she says angrily. "No!"
"Kennedy-" the redhead tries to calm her. "Listen to me-"
The young Slayer looks into her eyes, "No-no baby, I'm not-I won't-no baby-I'm not doing this Will-"
"Are you saying-" Willow turns pale at the realization of the young woman's words. "You want not to have-" she stops as her tears fall. "You would-" again she stops. Kennedy pulls away from the redhead and again runs out the door.
