Summary: The song is called "Everybody Got their Something" By Nikka Costa Here's my version with a Willow and Kennedy twist.

Something

My face to the sky
Dreaming about just how high
I could go and If I'll know
When I finally get there

"A what-?" Asks the thirteen-year-old as she listens to the woman in front of her.

"A Slayer, child," she repeats. "One girl in all the world chosen to..." Kennedy's eyes go wide-then she smiles.

Taking off my glasses
Sun pokes through my lashes
and somehow I know
There's a time for every star to shine

Time passes and the young teen becomes more self-confidant. As she trains-her hands pounding a rhythm on the heavy bag she states, "I'm ready Lillian-when do I get my shot?"

"Patience child-" says the Watcher softly. "The time is near."

"Really?" Her eyes shine and the woman she has come to love and trust just nods. She goes back to work.

Everybody got their something
Make you smile like and itty-bitty child
Everybody got their something.
Everybody got their something

Then tragedy strikes and Lillian falls as Bringers invade the home they share. Kennedy listens to her dying words, "Find Rupert Giles child-he will help you."

And now she stands next to him at the door of a strange house in a strange town. They step inside and her life changes. Soon teenagers like her fill the house all scared but her-she's not scared she tells herself. Danger comes, some fall-she stands strong.

People keeping score
Say better hurry up and get yours
Cause somebody else got you spot
Before you even drop

Kennedy looks at the redhead, she's made passes but been shot down more than once. "Willow-" she speaks her words confidant. "Why won't you go out with me?"

"You remember the last time-the kiss and then the boy and the gun and-I could have hurt you."

"You're hurting me now." She says honestly. "Give it a chance Will-give me a chance."

The redhead seems in deep thought, then taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly she speaks. "Okay-one chance."

Kennedy smiles and stands, "All I need," she kisses her cheek and runs for the phone. Willow smiles and shakes her head.

Seek and you shall find
Everything in my own sweet time
I'll take my chances
With what I believe is mine

The date over they stand outside the door of their shared room once more. As they step inside Willow looks at the young potential Slayer in front of her and a serious look covers her face. "You remember what happened last time right?"

"I remember," she smiles. "I kissed you-"

"Well, yeah then not me-" she swallows hard. "Remember that part-the not so good one?"

"So the other part, it was good for you too-" she smiles teasingly.

Willow rolls her eyes, "Yes-" she admits. "It was nice, but what if-" before she hits full babble Kennedy's lips are on hers.

The kiss is slow and unrushed, then lips begin to move together. Kennedy pulls back and smiles at the woman-then leans her forehead against hers, "See still you." Willow bites her own bottom lip as she nods ever so slightly. To Kennedy's surprise the redhead leans in and initiates the kiss. Soon she feels her tongue tracing her bottom lip and she can't stop the moan that escapes as she opens her mouth and the redhead begins to explore. The kissing continues well into the night as their new relationship begins to unfold.

Busy holding on
So the roof don't fly
Keep you from moving on
So get it right
Turn the tide over
Like a love song
Like a butterfly
Believe if you hand it over
You'll come out all right

Love in the face of the world ending-who would have thought. Caleb coming, potentials dying, Faith returning and then the worst Xander losing his eye-but still they held on to each other. Then that last night before the fight. The talking-fears and tears-kites and strings and finally falling as one.

Everybody got their something
Make you smile like an itty-bitty child
Everybody got their something
Everybody got their something

And afterwards her girl made her a Slayer-all of them Slayers, it was amazing. They fought, they won and then the real craziness began.

In Cleveland six months later, early one morning my redhead walks into the room where she trains. "Kenn-I need to talk to you."

The young Slayer knows instantly that something isn't right. She pulls off her gloves as she walks to her redhead. When Kennedy reaches her she touch her face-the Slayer can feel it's damp-then see the tear stained tracks. "Will you're scaring me-what's wrong baby?"

"Exactly-" she states.

Kennedy looks confused-, "Exactly what?"

"A baby-" she whispers as tears start again.

Even more confused the young Slayer puts her arm around her goddess and they walk to the bench and sit down. "Willow-one more time-cause I'm not as smart as you." Kennedy teases trying to stop the tears.

She smiles, "Are too," she says as she touches her girl's face.

"Why the tears?" She asks as she meets her green eyes.

"I'm having a baby."

"Excuse me?" She stands unsure. "You can't have a baby-we can't have a baby."

"That's what I said, after the first test and the second test but then the doctor-she says yes I am." The tears start again and they fall harder then before.

Kennedy slowly tries to take in all she has learned. A baby-how could it be-magic maybe or a prophecy-wow-a baby. She giggles and Willow looks at her unsure. Kennedy smiles and sits back down beside her. "Babblefest in my head you would have been proud." She meets the redhead's eyes again.

"Babbling-huh?" Kennedy nods. "Let me guess-how-why-that kinda thing?"

"Yep-that kinda thing." She pulls her into a hug. "We're having a baby."

"So you want?" She looks in her eyes once more, searching for truth.

"I want-" she says softly. "A little scary-" she admits, "but wow-" she kisses her softly.

Illuminate the silly things
Shed some light on all that's wrong
Everybody need it sometime
Sometimes the only thing you got
Is what makes you feel like
You're something else altogether

Time passes and the baby grows. They go through first movements and first ultrasound pictures. Soon they start childbirth classes and Kennedy always knows the answers.

A few weeks before the due date the sit on the balcony looking up at the stars. The redhead sits between her girl friends legs her body resting against her young Slayer. Kennedy's hands rest on her lover's extended tummy. "She's moving around a lot tonight," says the Slayer.

Willow rolls her eyes, "Really, couldn't tell." She smiles up at her girl.

"Fine-set myself up for that one," she presses a kiss to Willow's hair. "It's not much longer now-" she says.

"A few weeks. Getting nervous?"

"Nah-but we still need a name for our little warrior goddess."

"And-it's still not gonna be Xena-" she turns to look in her young Slayer's eyes.

Kennedy pouts. "But I like Xena-" she drops her lip down playfully.

Willow leans in and takes it between her lips and soon they are kissing. Names forgotten for now.

You have everything don't need
Another reason to be something
I've been on a ride
And caught up in a landslide
But I'm gonna spread my wings and fly...

Willow wakes suddenly and puts her hand on her stomach. Her breathing is more of a gasp ass another pain hits. "Kennedy-" she shakes the sleeping young Slayer.

Kennedy's eyes fly open, "Willow-what's wrong?"

"Now-we should go now-" she says as she works her way to the edge of the bed.

At the hospital later the nurse sets up everything for the delivery. Willow breaths through another contraction as Kennedy times them and encourages her. "Not much longer baby-you okay?"

"Hmmm-" she tries to speak but another contraction starts. "Need to push." Kennedy looks unsure as the nurse comes over and checks her.

"Seems she's an anxious one."

Kennedy smiles, "Not much patience in this family."

Everybody got their something
Everybody got their something
Make you smile like an itty-bitty child
Everybody got their something
Everybody got their something

Willow holds the newborn in her arms as Kennedy sits on the bed beside her. Tears fall from both their eyes as the look at the daughter. Kennedy tentatively touches her hand. "She's beautiful Willow-" she moves her hand to the soft redhead hair of her child's head and kisses it. She kisses Willow's lips. "Beautiful."

"Yeah-" she wipes at Kennedy's tears. They kiss again.

"She still needs a name."

"Yeah," she kisses the baby's head. "Still no Xena-" she smiles.

"How about Gabrielle?"

"People will call her Gabby-" Willow says.

"And they'd probably be right." Kennedy smiles.

Willow nods and smiles. "Okay. Gabrielle-" Kennedy smiles down at the child.

Everybody got their something
Everybody got their something
Make you smile like an itty-bitty child
Everybody got their something
Everybody got their something

Kennedy stands on the balcony with her little girl in her arms. The infant, a few months old coos at her mama. "Look up their Gabrielle-see the stars. They're yours if you want'em." She kisses the baby's head.

There's a time for every star.

Willow and Kennedy watch as the toddler takes her first tentative steps and then runs before falling. She looks at them and pulls herself up and she's off again. They watch their child amazed.

There's a time for every star.

Then first words, "Mom- Mamama-Mom-" she looks from the redhead to the brunette and back again.

There's a time for every star.

Willow, Kennedy and a year old Gabrielle celebrate her birthday with the gang. She tears wrapping paper and decorates herself in chocolate cake before falling asleep in her mama's arms. Willow takes a picture of them.

There's a time for every star.

Willow, Kennedy and Gabrielle lay together in bed. Willow reads to the little girl as she sucks her thumb-her fingers wrapped in her mom's hair. "Star-see-" she says as she points to the page as she takes her thumb from her mouth. "dere-" she shows them.

"That's right baby girl a star," says Kennedy softly as she kisses her cheek.

"Side-" she points to the balcony.

Willow smiles at Kennedy, "She loves them almost as much as you."

Kennedy smiles, "Yeah-almost."

There's a time for every star.

Kennedy has her daughter wrapped in a blanket as they stand on the balcony-a cold Cleveland wind blowing. "See that one-that's your mom's favorite-"

"See-have?" She looks at her mama questioningly.

"Yeah-you can."

There's a time for every star.
