Chapter 7
Everyone looks at Giles as he reads. Finally the blonde Slayer can take the silence no more. "What does it say?"
Giles answers by reading aloud, "In the latter days of the city of the Sun-"
"Sunnydale-" Buffy relates.
"That's what I figured, so I thought it might be important." Kennedy looks around at the others.
Giles begins again, "There will appear a twice blessed child-" he glances at the stairs as do the others.
It is Dawn who voices their thoughts, "Child?-" her word in a nervous whisper. "As in baby? Willow's baby?"
All eyes rest on Dawn then move to the other teenager as she speaks, "I'm pretty sure-and there's more."
Giles begins to read again, "The child-Guardian or Master of the font of evil. If the child be born in the sacred manner, then Guardian shall he be."
"That's good right?" Xander asks feeling a nervousness in the pit of his stomach as he takes in the new information. "The baby will just guard."
Dawn asks, "Guard what exactly?-The hellmouth?"
"I think-" Kennedy's words are stopped as the older man raises his hand.
He starts to read the remaining text, "If not, then remorseless Master to make the world tremble."
"Not good-no!" Xander says. "So not good. Black-eyed bad even."
Kennedy looks around at the others, her eyes rest on Xander, "No, not a problem. We just have to make sure she's born in the sacred circle-and it'll be cool."
Xander isn't convinced. Flashes of Willow trying to end the world run through his mind. "It's not that easy-it's never that easy. Tell her Buffy."
"Usually not," agrees the Slayer though her tone is more hopeful.
Kennedy becomes indignant. "I'll make sure they're safe."
"What can you do? You're not a Slayer." Xander challenges her.
But it is Dawn who interjects, "Oh!-But maybe that's good-cause the Slayer can't help remember? So maybe not Slayers can?" She looks around at the others.
Buffy looks at her sister, "And what kind of crazy not logic is that?" Dawn just shrugs.
Giles speaks, "She might be right." They all look at the man.

Upstairs, Willow sleeps, unaware of the continued talks and research taking place downstairs. She begins to stir slightly, mumbling as images-foggy and splintered-slip into her mind. Animals surround her-fire-smoke-Kennedy-then they are all gone replaced by Tara's calm smile. "Tara?" whispers the sleeping redhead.
"It's me sweetie." Her smile gets brighter.
"Tara?" The dreamland Wicca breathes out. "Is it really you?"
"It's really me." The blonde steps closer and her hand rest on the cheek of her 'Always'.
"Baby I miss you so much," Willow's tears fall as she leans into her touch.
"I miss you," Tara lets her hand settle on Willow's tummy.
"I wish you could be here with us."
"I'll always be here Willow-always." Tara assures her. The danger returns-dark and evil-circling. "Willow she's in danger."
"I can feel it. I won't let them have her."
"You can't stop them-not alone." Tara warns.
"I'm not alone-I have Buffy and Xander-" the redhead states.
"They can't help-only one-she is the Protector-let her." Tara starts to fade.
"Don't leave me baby!" Willow pleads.
"I love you both-" then the blonde is gone.
Willow tries to awake but can't as the evil circles closer. She can see them now for the first time. Animals-black cats-panthers, no-jaguars. She suddenly wakes with a start. "No!-No don't-you can't have her!"
The door opens and Kennedy is at her side, "I'm right here-Willow are you okay?" She asks as she sits next to her.
Willow nods, "Dream-ah-it was a dream. I'm okay." She wraps her arms around the Potential.
Kennedy holds her tightly. "Sleep-I'll be right here."
"Don't want to-the baby she's-Tara said-" their eyes meet.
"I won't let anything happen to her, I promise." Kennedy's words are confident.
"How did you know?" She pulls back slightly as a tear slips down her cheek and Kennedy wipes it away.
"I found something-" Kennedy states.
"More of the prophecy?" Kennedy nods and the redhead starts to stand. "I need to see."
Kennedy stands and holds out her hand. Willow takes it and they go out the door. At the window, two pairs of yellow eyes peer inside from the tree limb, then they are gone-quickly.
* * *
Downstairs the gang is again researching-but this time with more purpose and direction. Giles is rereading the text Kennedy had while Buffy, Xander and Dawn look for anything on Guardians of the hellmouth.
Giles walks across the room and picks another book from the shelf. He opens it, flipping the pages quickly, then looks at the others. "There's more." He states.
From the doorway of the room Willow speaks, "Does it say how we protect her?"
Buffy looks at the redhead as does everyone in the room. "Will-"
"It's okay, Tara told me." Tears slip from her eyes but Kennedy squeezes her hand. "I'm okay," the redhead states in a whisper as she wipes them away before leaning her forehead against Kennedy's.
"I got you Red." She smiles a little before kissing her lips softly.
Willow nods, then forces a little smile of her own. "Yeah." She looks at Giles. "What's it say?"
Giles reads, "A protector for the unborn will come from a far away land. Called by the Powers-against the will of his people-to keep safe the light."
"A protector?" Willow's hand goes to her stomach and without thought Kennedy's follows.
The young Potential Slayer looks unsure, "Who's this protector guy?"
"It just says that he'll be known by his mark."
"What kind of mark?" Asks the Slayer.
"It's not here. I need the Standist text from my collection at home."
"Here home-not England home right?" Willow asks nervously.
"Yes-here-" he clarifies.
Buffy nods, "So we go get it." She looks around at the group. "We won't be long."
"Be careful," Dawn says to her sister.
Buffy realizes she is leaving them virtually unguarded. She looks toward Kennedy but before she can speak the young woman does. "We'll be fine here." She grins at the redhead. "Right Will?"
She nods a little distracted, "Right." Her mind is on Tara's words.
Buffy and Giles leave. Xander and Dawn continue to research. Kennedy leads Willow to the couch. "Sleep now okay-just till they get back?"
"You cuddle with me?" Willow looks up at the woman to see her smile.
"How could I say no to that?" She sits with her redhead on the couch and she holds her close. A few minutes later she speaks softly. "You're not asleep."
"No-head's all busy."
"Worried?"
"A little but Tara said with help I could keep her safe."
"This Protector guy?" Kennedy says, a hint of jealousy and sadness in her tone.
"It's not a guy-Tara said let her help, not him."
"So a new woman in your life," Kennedy looks away.
"Hey-you're the only new woman in my life-whoever this Protector is-she's just for the baby. Okay?" She touches Kennedy's face bringing so that their eyes meet. Kennedy nods. Willow leans in and kisses her softly. The kiss becomes a little more intense as Willow's tongue asks for and gets permission to enter Kennedy's mouth. After gently exploring the redhead breaks the kiss. Both are breathing a little harder than normal. "Only you-got it?"
"Beginning to." She smiles a little as she bites her bottom lip.
"Good." She snuggles into her chest.
Kennedy kisses the top of her head. Her hand stroking her back, then massaging it gently. She can feel Willow relaxing and soon her even breathing signals her sleep. But almost instantly her eyes open and she sits up. "Red?"
"The dream I remember something else. There were animals chasing us-not chasing that's wrong-more circling."
Kennedy looks unsure, "Animals? Not bringers or vampires?"
Willow shakes her head. "No-animals. I couldn't see them at first it was too dark but as they got closer I could. They were like panthers-but not."
Xander speaks from across the room. "Close your eyes Willow-" he walks toward them. She closes her eyes, Kennedy looks from her girl to the man unsure. "Now deep breath and see them."
Willow does what her best friend says. She starts to breath faster as her mind goes back to the dream. "They're getting closer. They're big- and lots of them."
"You're with me-you're safe," Kennedy whispers but her words are full of worry as she looks at Willow then Xander.
"What do you see Will?" He asks.
She shakes her head, "They can't get in the circle-"
"Who Red?" Kennedy asks.
"Jaguars-no people-jaguars." She opens her eyes as tears fall.
"It's okay baby I got you." Kennedy holds her tighter.
Willow looks toward Xander, "Jaguars-they were black jaguars."
Dawn speaks from the table, "I was reading something-wait-" she gets a book from the stack and begins turning the pages as the others come to the table. They all sit down around her but Kennedy. She stands behind Willow with her hands on her shoulders. "This is the one. A city in Mexico-Catemaco."
"Wait I know about that place-supposedly the world was created there. It has power." Willow says.
"More than just power. It's the power center for all things supernatural-according to the Olmecs."
"Their very own hellmouth?" Xander asks.
"There's more than one?" Kennedy looks uncertain.
"Yes-there's more than one and yeah it's kinda like that," Dawn says but then adds. "But legend has it that it is both light and dark powers."
"Like Willow?" Xander says without thinking. All eyes go to him. "I mean before when-never mind."
"I know what you mean Xan-" she smiles a little smile at him.
Kennedy decides now isn't the time for sad Willow and changes the topic back to things not Willow. "What else do we know about this place-it's people?"
Dawn reads then paraphrases, "It's kinda the hot spot for pagan religions. They were really big with rituals-sacrifices."
"Babies?" Willow asks her hand reaching for Kennedy's.
"No." Dawn says.
"What else?" Xander asks trying to distract the redhead.
"They had a council of 12 witches." She pauses as she reads more. "The high priest-or priestess was very powerful."
"They usually are-they have big magicks. They can usually shape shift too."
As the words leave the redhead's mouth Dawn adds. "Cats-this culture-big with cats all kinds-from normal little Miss Kitty Fantastico cats to the big cats."
"Like in your dream?" Kennedy says and Willow nods.
"Their symbol was-is the jaguar."
Willow stands, "Red?"
"I need a book," she goes to the shelf and looks frantically till she finds it. She flips through till she finds the black jaguar. "This is what I saw." She says needing to see it was real and not just in her dream. She looks at Kennedy who followed her across the room.
"Good, now we know what's going on-well kinda." She walks back with the witch to the table and sits down with her.
Dawn looks up at them, "They are symbols of individuals who would bridge the conscious and unconscious worlds-they even had access to the afterlife."
"That's how Tara knew," Willow says softly.
"Tara knew?" Xander asks.
"She knew she was in danger."
"And now we do too-so we'll keep her safe." Kennedy says as she kisses her lips softly.
Dawn adds, "There's lots here-I'll read. You get some rest."
Willow looks at them and starts to protest but then just nods. She stands and so does the Potential Slayer. They go back toward the couch. "Couch or bed?"
"Here-so when Buffy and Giles get back."
Kennedy lets Willow get comfortable on the couch and then slides in next to her. She spoons around her protectively, her back facing the table-Willow safe between her and the back of the couch. "Sleep Red," She whispers as she brushes her lips against her neck.
"Try," she whispers back.
Kennedy's hand slips between them and begins to rub her girl's back. "Sleep." She repeats and minutes later the expectant mother is indeed asleep.
* * *
Later Willow and Kennedy are both asleep. Buffy and Giles are back-they talk quietly about the symbol the book has shown them. "It makes sense," says the blonde Slayer. "With what you found out."
"A tattoo of a jaguar?" Dawn seems unsure. "I could get a tattoo-" Buffy raises an eyebrow. "If you weren't my sister and it could be of a jaguar. It doesn't make me the 'Protector.' "
"The tattoo is very original-tribal in origin one would assume. I'm sure it has not been duplicated at the local tattoo parlor." Giles interjects. "Take a look for yourself." He passes the book around the table.
"Okay-definitely different." She hands it to Xander.
"We should show Willow and Kennedy." He states.
Buffy looks toward the couple sleeping on the couch. "It can wait till morning." She smiles a little at the young Slayer-to-be's protective nature. Something catches her eye and she stands walking toward them.
"Buffy?" Xander questions. "Is everything okay?" Buffy walks toward Kennedy. She stops mere inches from her and kneels down to look at the exposed skin of the lower back. Xander stands next to her. "Is that what I think it is?" The picture window breaks as a great black cat bursts through. "Not the window again!" He complains.
Kennedy wakes, shields Willow with her body and manages to pull her from the couch. The redhead opens her eyes and sees the animal in the room followed by another. "Kennedy."
"I got you," the young Slayer-to-be says.
Dawn tosses Buffy a sword from the weapons chest near the table. The Slayer orders the others. "Get Willow out of here!"
"This way-" Giles says as he turns to lead them towards the basement.
Kennedy stands firm her eyes meeting the glowing yellow of the lead jaguar. Willow watches amazed, as do the others as the cat stops, looks at the dark eyed woman and with a loud growl flees the room followed closely by it's mate.
"They just left." Dawn states the obvious.
"Why did they just leave?" Asks Xander.
Buffy looks toward Kennedy and the trembling redhead.
Chapter 8
"What the hell just happened?" Asks the Slayer, her eyes turning to a surprised Kennedy.
Kennedy shakes her head as Willow moves into her arms. "You okay?" She kisses her forehead.
"I'm-ah-yeah. Those were jaguars? In our living room. No dreaming?" Worry fills her babbled words.
"No dreaming Will. Got the broken window to prove it." Xander says as he picks up the shattered pieces.
Buffy turns her eyes from her friend to Kennedy. "We need to talk."
Kennedy nods, "Ah-" confused as to why the focus is suddenly on her. "About?"
Dawn states the somewhat obvious, "Maybe why the pretty kitties ran away when they saw you?" The younger Summers frowns just a little and looks at Willow. "Why don't we get some warm chocolately milk and go upstairs? You should rest."
Willow looks at her friends, suddenly realizing they think what ever just happened has something to do with Kennedy. "No-" she looks from Giles to Buffy, then Xander, then back to the blonde. "Tell me what's going on."
Giles wipes at his glasses before returning them to his face. "Why don't we sit down."
Buffy looks at Kennedy, as everyone sits at the table. Willow is still protected in the young woman's arms as she sits on her lap. "The book we went after," she starts slowly.
Giles continues, "It seems that the protector of the child has a mark."
"We knew that when you left. What kinda mark?" Asks the young Slayer-to-be.
"A tattoo-" Xander answers.
"Tribal in nature," Giles adds.
Kennedy begins to get uncomfortable. "Of?"
"A jaguar." Buffy finishes.
Kennedy pales and loosens her hold on the redhead in her lap. "Ah-Red, I need, ah - I need to get up."
Willow stands unsure. "Kennedy, you're scaring me."
"I need air." She jogs through the kitchen and out the back door to the yard.
Willow starts to follow but Xander's hand on her shoulder stops her. "I need to make sure she's okay."
"I'll go Will. Stay inside okay? It still might not be safe." Buffy looks at her friend. The witch nods though she wants to be with her girl.
* * *
Buffy goes out the door, but stops on the porch to watch the young would-be Slayer. She suddenly wonders if the girl is a Potential at all. With an exaggerated sigh she steps off the porch to get answers.
Kennedy is pacing just at the edge of the property. She has her arms crossed against her chest fighting to keep tears from forming. Her mind has caught Willowbabble and is racing at full speed. Question upon question roars through her mind unanswered. "I'll get answers!" She is angry and turns to go back inside to the Slayer.
Buffy is standing not five feet from her when she turns. She levels a glare on her, a glare that is matched by that of the Slayer. They speak at the same time, words echoing. "What the hell is going on?" They ask in unison.
Buffy tries again, "Why are you here? Who sent you?"
"To train, to fight. To stay alive and you know who sent me, or Giles does. This is crazy! I-I'm not some damn protector. It's not me!"
Buffy feels momentarily sorry for the seemingly confused woman. But then her worry for Willow's safety prevents her from believing the words. "That fancy little tattoo you got on your back kinda proves otherwise. Where'd you get it? When? Why? Pick anyone to start with, but I want answers. Now."
Kennedy's anger resurfaces, but she holds it in check as the redhead fills her thoughts. "Willow shouldn't be alone."
"She's not." Buffy states.
"Damn it! Look, if I am this protector, then I should be in there protecting. Those people -things, they might come back." She starts to walk away but Buffy stops her by grabbing her arm.
"You're not getting anywhere near Willow and the baby until you tell me what I want to know."
Kennedy's eyes flash a weird yellow just for a second before she forces the rage away. "Ah- fine!" She tries to remember the events leading to the tattoo. "I was 15, maybe 16. I had this weird ass dream, that I don't remember much about, but I know it was intense. I drew the tattoo after. Then last year I was on spring break with some friends." She pauses, "There was drinking, and some daring, and I ended up with the tattoo." Buffy looks unsure. "That's all there is."
The Slayer nods, "Okay, look. We'll figure out how it all goes together tomorrow. Get some sleep."
The Potential, or Protector, whichever she is pulls her arm away from the blonde. "I need to check on Willow." She walks away and the Slayer follows.
* * *
Back inside the house the redhead is sitting at the table with Xander. Dawn and Giles have returned to the books, looking for more on the jaguars. "You really should try to sleep Will."
"I can't. My head is all with the confusing questions." She looks toward the door.
"I think she's- She won't hurt you."
"I know. But, if she's the Protector that the prophecy talks about-" she stops, not wanting to voice her concern to the man across from her.
He smiles, a sad little smile, knowing what has his best friend so worried. "She loves you and well... If she's the Protector, then don't think one has anything to do with the other."
Willow rolls her eyes and then smiles. "Can't get anything by you huh?"
He stands and begins to rub her shoulders. "Not usually."
"What if she doesn't... Love me... What if she's just here because she has to be?"
Xander frowns, "Did you miss the part where I said she loves you?"
Before they can finish their discussion the door opens and Kennedy comes in, Buffy right behind her. The brown eyes of the younger woman turn to Willow. "You okay?" The redhead nods but isn't too convincing. "Feel up to talking?" She nods again. "Living room?"
"Ah- upstairs okay?"
It is Kennedy's turn to nod. She moves to her and helps her up with a little smile. Willow forces a smile back then puts her hand on her stomach as the baby shows her displeasure with the lateness. "Red?"
"She's just being grumpy. It's okay." She lets out a calming breath and stands beside the Potential. Their fingers lace together without thought and they start up the steps.
Buffy looks at Xander, "I don't like this," she says softly.
"Which part? The jaguar 'people' after the baby or the fact that someone not you is suppose to keep her safe?" He raises an eyebrow.
"Either," she pouts. "I'm the Slayer."
"And the Slayer can't stop the end of days remember?"
"Yes," she answers pointedly. "But thanks so much for reminding me."
He puts an arm around her, "If it makes you feel better, I'm sure you'll get to fight something."
"Sounds good. Well, unless it's Kennedy." She growls. "I hate prophecies."
* * *
Willow sits on the bed as the younger woman stands by the window. She steals glances at the redhead, suddenly nervous about the conversation. The witch looks up at her. "Come sit," she pats the bed beside her as she puts her feet on it and stretches out, almost lying down. Slowly Kennedy moves to the bed and stands there looking down at the woman. "Don't wanna?"
"I do, it's just... This whole thing has me a little freaked. You know?"
"I know." The mother-to-be nods. She reaches up and takes Kennedy's hand. She lets her thumb caress over the back of it. "Kinda confusing."
"Kinda, but-" she looks into the redhead's soft green eyes. "Not confused about you or the fact that I love you."
Willow smiles, "Not just the teeny-tinyest bit worried that your feelings for me are just there to make sure you keep her safe?" She lets her hand rest on her stomach and her eyes drop as well.
Kennedy sits down next to her, "No, not even one teeny tiny bit." She raises Willow's chin so that their eyes meet again, "None. Got it? I love you."
"Got it," she smiles a little as she bites her bottom lip. Kennedy playfully grins and stares deeper into her eyes. Willow squirms nervously then confesses. "I might still be a little not sure."
Kennedy nods, "It's been a really weird night. Lots to take in for both of us." She moves up beside the woman and stretches out next to her.
"Definitely weird," she lets her head rest on Kennedy's shoulder. "My girlfriend is-" she stops. "What are you exactly?" She looks up into dark brown eyes.
"Damn good question Red." She presses a kiss to her forehead. "Other then being in love with you, I'm not real sure."
Willow turns and lets her hand caress the younger woman's cheek. "I think you're a strong young woman with lots of power that you don't know much about yet."
"Maybe. But am I Slayer? Will I ever be? Or am I just... Is my calling to be-" she stops as her voice waivers.
Willow knows how important being a Slayer is to her girl. "Could be you're both." She caresses her face again. "Why don't we see if Giles or Dawnie found out anything else." She starts to get up but a strong hand stops her. She turns to smile at her girl.
"You-" she kisses her forehead. "My beautiful, smart redhead are not getting out of this bed." Their eyes meet.
"You are not the boss of me." Willow teases.
"Ah, but technically I am." She grins playfully. "My job is to make sure she's okay." She puts a hand on Will's tummy. "So-o-o-" she giggles as green eyes roll.
"I'm not sure I like you being all in charge," she pouts teasingly. Kennedy kisses her lips softly and snuggles tightly to the redhead. "Hmmm- like this though." She holds her closer.
"Get some sleep Red."
"Can there be just a few smoochies first?" She looks into Kennedy's eyes.
Kennedy smirks, then it softens into a real smile. "Maybe just a few wouldn't hurt." They lean into a soft kiss and then another. As the kisses become longer, more lingering, Willow's breath quickens as does the brunette's. Soon, as lips move together, tongues seek entrance. The younger girl pulls back, her hand on her redhead's face. "Don't think that's a good idea, Red." Willow looks confused, then Kennedy's words continue. "Afraid things might be a little hard to stop right now-"
"Maybe I don't wanna stop," she caresses the woman's breast, before cupping it in her hand.
Kennedy moans and her eyes close but she forces them open. "Willow-" she takes her hand. "Soon, I promise, but not tonight."
"Why? Because you're not sure you love-"
Kennedy's lips find hers and her hands caress the redhead's body. She pulls back as Willow struggles for air. "I love you. I thought we covered that?" She raises an eyebrow. "I love you, but this has been a hell of a night and I don't wanna do something just to prove how I feel. And I don't want you to either. Okay?"
"Okay-" she pants out, her body tingling. She closes her eyes trying to calm herself.
Kennedy smiles as she realizes just how close her girl is. Her simple touch has left her on edge. "Want me to rub your back?" She smirks.
"Ah- no. Just keep your hands over there for now," she glares at her teasing girl, then licks her lips as she takes another calming breath.
"I didn't mean to-" Kennedy looks at her green-eyed girl.
"I know, but still... So, hands off unless you're gonna... finish what you started." Willow says softly, her eyes focused on a picture on the dresser as she works on centering herself without a lot of luck. Her body isn't cooperating as just Kennedy's closeness causes her body to shiver.
The younger woman senses the problem. "Red?"
"I'll be okay," she turns onto her left side and pulls Kennedy's arms around her. "Just hold me."
"I can do that," she whispers in her ear as she spoons around her. "But I thought you wanted no hands?" She can feel the woman's body shiver against her. "Sure this is a good idea Red?"
"Sure," she groans back, her breathing a little faster again. Kennedy presses her lips to her girl's neck. "Goddess-" moans the redhead. "Wait-" Kennedy pulls her lips away. "I thought you didn't want... with the love making."
"We won't. Just a little making out, 'cause I think that's all it'll take." She smirks against the redhead's skin. "Fact, I'll bet I can help you out with just my lips on your neck." She kisses her neck again and then lets her tongue tease out to lick the same spot.
Willow moans and her body pushes back into Kennedy's. The Potential Slayer or Protector wraps her arms around Willow's waist and continues to kiss and lick her neck. She can feel the body in her arms tense just a little as her girl's heart beats faster and her breathing gets heavier. "You okay?" She whispers in her ear.
"Yes-" she gasps out. "Don't stop- almost-" she groans and calls Kennedy's name as the younger woman pulls her ear lobe into her mouth and sucks on it. The redhead falls instantly. Kennedy caresses her back and tummy as she tries to calm her. "Goddess-" she pants out a few minutes later as her body starts to calm. She can feel Kennedy smile against her shoulder. With a little difficulty she turns in her girl's arms and kisses her softly.
Kennedy grins, "Better?"
Willow blushes and nods. "Wow."
The younger woman smirks, "Think you can sleep now?"
"You wanna sleep after-" her hand touches the skin at Kennedy's waist.
"Don't wanna, no, but we're gonna okay?" Their eyes meet.
"I guess," she pouts playfully then turns back to her other side and snuggles into Kennedy's arms.

The next morning the research is on again after breakfast. Giles hands a book to Willow and Kennedy moves to read over her shoulder. It talks about the civilization. Willow looks from the book to her girl, "Your family was from Mexico right?"
"My grandmother was born there but she left when she was a baby."
"Any idea why?" Buffy asks.
"No, not really. She didn't talk about it. Not sure she knew."
Giles reads from another book, "Seems the line was broken. The highest power missing for almost a century."
"You think she-" she stops. "That's why her family left?" Kennedy asks.
"It would explain some things." Xander speaks.
Kennedy looks away but then at Giles, "So what kinda power does this- I have?"
It is Willow who speaks, "If you're her, then your power... You can do almost anything." Her eyes meet Kennedy's.
The younger woman nods a little overwhelmed but interested. "So, they can't hurt her-" her hand goes to Willow's tummy. "Take her to end the world as long as I'm here?"
Dawn nods, "Not without a really big fight."
"And even then it would be most unlikely." Giles adds.
Kennedy smiles, "So... she's okay and no world ending. That's good."
Buffy nods, "Definitely good."
Willow looks worried. Kennedy wraps her in her arms from behind. "What's not right?"
Willow shakes her head, "I should ah- find the things for the circle and we need some-" she stops and her eyes close-her hand goes to her stomach.
"Will?" Buffy asks.
"She's just working out I think." She forces a smile.
Dawn looks at the redhead, "I can get the things you need. Buffy can go with me to the Magic Box."
Willow nods, as she picks up a pencil and paper then begins to write. She takes another sharp breath. Kennedy looks into her eyes. "Red?"
The redhead takes a breath and blows it out slowly. "Need to finish the list-" she moans at little.
"Contraction?"
She nods as she tries to continue to write. "Shit." She breaks the pencil as the pain gets more intense.
"Breath baby... Relax." Willow listens to her words as she lets her eyes close and relaxes just a little.
Suddenly her mind feels with Tara. 'Willow.'
'Tara, she's coming.'
'Not yet sweetie, there's much to be done first.'
'But she- I- contractions.' The pain eases a little.
'Make sure the circle is impenetrable. No one can get in or out once she starts her journey.'
'Okay Tara-'
'And Willow, no one but you and Kennedy can be there when she is born.'
'The midwife has-' she starts.
'No one but you and her Protector.'
'No one. Got it.' She pauses then asks as she let her hand reach for her blonde. 'Will you be able... Will you see her?'
'Yes love, I will see her.'
'I miss you,' Willow's tears fall.
'Shhhh. You must concentrate all your energy on her now. Her safety-'
'I will but I still miss you.'
She feels the soft touch of Tara's hand against her cheek and she leans into it. 'I miss you too, but I'll always be here.'
Just as suddenly as she appeared, she is gone. Willow opens her eyes to see the others watching her. "She, she was here. Tara."
Kennedy nods, "I felt her." She touches Willow's cheek much like the blonde did. "You okay?"
The redhead nods. "She- ah- I need to research the spell- the circle needs to be- only you and me." Her eyes meet Kennedy's. "You'll have to-"
Buffy's eyes go large, "She's gonna have to deliver the baby?"
Kennedy smiles a little nervously and lets her bravado take over. "Piece of cake. I saw the movie."
Willow grins and rolls her eyes. She stands and goes to her girl and hugs her. "So you're okay with it?"
Kennedy nods, "You kidding? It'll be cool." She smiles and kisses her gently. "Contractions?"
"Stopped. Tara says there's lots to do first."
Dawn nods and picks up the paper Willow's was writing on. "Are you gonna need to change the ingredients for the circle or is this what you need?"
"I'll need that but more-" she turns picking up a book.
Soon the room is researching and baby talk has stopped for everyone but the young Protector. Her mind whirls with the knowledge that she must deliver the child. The more she thinks of it the more nervous she gets. She begins to pace. She stops in her tracks, suddenly standing face to face with her grandmother. She turns to look at the others. They seem unaware of the visitor. "Abuela-" she whispers. "I don't under-"
"You will child," states the woman as she touches her face. Kennedy collapses to the floor.
Around the room the others lose consciousness as well. One by one they are overcome, those standing fall to the floor those sitting end with their heads on the table.
"Comprender!" Whispers Abuela and a strange mist fills the room.
Chapter 9
The young Protector begins her journey. As her grandmother leads the way, wave after wave of knowledge fills her. Like a movie on fast forward, she lives the past of her tribe.
The first scene that really comes into focus is of her grandmother as a small infant. She's not sure how she knows it's her grandmother but somehow she does. As the child sleeps her parents whisper, worry can be felt in their words. The man speaks to his wife in their native language, but Kennedy's mind translates it with ease, "She is not safe here. The seer gave me warning. If she is to live we must go... and go quickly."
"Where would we go?" Asks his wife.
"Far away, some place they would never think to look." His eyes meet hers and she nods. "We'll leave tonight."
As that scene fades another takes its place. Kennedy smiles as she recognizes her mother as a child. "Mama." She whispers, her hand reaching to touch her-but that can not happen. It passes through the image and she saddens.
The child plays as her grandparents talk on the porch, their eyes not leaving the child. "We must go, they have found us."
As he speaks a soft growl can be heard from the trees surrounding the yard. The child freezes until she hears orders from her father. "Run!"
He and his wife both run for the now scared child. He reaches her just as the jaguars do. The first attacks and the man fights to protect his family. They escape but he is lost, his blood spilling on the ground.
Kennedy fights tears and anger, the Slayer inside wanting out. She growls softly unable to stop it. She calms as she hears her Abuela. "Child there is much you must know and you can only learn while in control."
"Yes Abuela. I understand," Kennedy struggles to relax and is finally able to.
The next scene starts. She stands in the kitchen she grew up in, staring at herself as a child. Her father, mother and grandmother are talking as she plays with toys on the floor. "I remember this now," she whispers.
"Remember it all child," says her grandmother.
Again Kennedy's memories surround her. Thoughts flood her mind and the hidden knowledge there seeps out. The voices soft but she hears them plainly, "It is not safe," her Abuela says to the young Potential's parents. "They will not stop hunting now that they know of her existence. Measures must be taken to protect her until she is old enough to protect herself and fulfill her destiny."
The man shakes his head, "This is superstition, old tales of a culture long gone."
"Gone only because you refuse to follow it," comes the words of his wife. "I won't let you put her in danger."
"What would you have me do?" He looks at her with anger in his eyes. "Leave my business, a business I have worked and sacrificed for?"
"Then you would rather sacrifice your child?" The old woman asks of her son.
In anger he stomps out of the room. The women exchange worried looks and then look at the innocent child playing on the floor. Kennedy's mother speaks. "I will talk to him again."
"As will I," states his mother. "She must not perish... Whatever the cost."
The grown Kennedy stands watching, tears falling as she remembers more. Days later she and her mother are home alone. She is watching as her mother prepares dinner. She climbs upon a stool beside her. "Can I help?" The brown eyed girl asks and her mother nods with a smile.
Before that can happen a noise outside draws her mother's attention. She looks at her daughter. "Kennedy... hide!" She helps her hurriedly to the grown and pulls her toward a hidden panel in the wall. She pushes her inside as the growls get louder and they hear glass break. Kennedy begins to cry. "Don't come out, no matter what you hear. Understand? Stay hidden until you hear your father's voice."
"But Mama," Kennedy starts the tears flowing harder as the panel closes. "Mama!" Kennedy calls out.
"Silence!" Shouts her mother from the other side of the wall. Kennedy does as she is told.
The Potential Slayer watches the scene as her mother is torn apart by the Jaguars. Tears stream down her face as she recalls the emotions of that day. She remembers trembling out of sight wanting to come out. Then finally deciding to do just that only too late.
She sees the animals as they morph back into men and a small growl escapes her lips. Her eyes meet theirs and as they start toward her hers flash yellow. They stop. "Why are you stopping ?" Asks the leader. "Get her."
The yellow eyes of the child land on him and he is suddenly aware of her power. The child sees her mother, "Mama!" She loses focus for only a second before facing him again. "You will pay for what you have done." The child's body starts to transform.
Kennedy stares at her younger self. "I can..." she stops amazed. She watches the men flee from the little girl, from her. The child before her fights her anger and fear to return as she was. The last transformation is the return of her dark brown eyes.
Her grandmother speaks, "You possess much power, but don't let it possess you."
"I can..." Kennedy stops, her mind racing, "I can be..." she tries again to say the words. "The jaguar... I was..." Her mind can't seem to fathom the idea.
"It is inside you. Used properly, it protects. Used wrongfully, it destroys."
"How will I know when..." Kennedy looks at her Abuela unsure.
"You will know. Your destiny is to keep her safe, hers is much greater. You will know what to do when the times comes, you must simply do what is expected."
"Keep the baby safe, I got that."
"Good." The woman steps to her and lets her hand brush the Potential Slayer's cheek. Kennedy leans into the touch as a tear slips down her face. "You were meant to do great things. This is the first step." She smiles at her granddaughter.
"But I'm just one girl." Kennedy states.
"And one girl is all that is needed. One girl in all..." Kennedy's eyes get large as she listens to the words of her Abuela, realization finds its way into her mind.
Kennedy mumbles, "One girl in all the world..."
The young Potential Slayer's eyes slowly open as she takes in the room around her. She stands a little shaky at first. "Note to self," she mumbles. "Ask Willow if all magicky stuff makes you weak." As she thinks of Willow her eyes lock on the redhead. She is worried when she sees her head on the table-obviously unconscious. She makes her way slowly to her girl... girls. A little smile finds her lips as she sees Willow start to stir. She kneels beside her. "Easy baby." She whispers as she lets her hand brush her shoulder, then her cheek. Their eyes meet. "You okay?"
The redhead nods slowly, "What happen?"
"Something magic-y. Not sure exactly. My grandmother was here."
Willow sees the hurt in her Potential's eyes. She turns to face her more and takes her face between her hands. "What she had to say must have been important." Kennedy nods then feels soft lips on hers. "Wanna talk about it?" The brunette nods again and stands on still wobbly legs. The witch stands and holds her tightly. "Lean on me and we'll go get comfy on the couch."
Kennedy looks around the room at the still unconscious group "What about them?"
"They'll be okay. They're probably either 'talking' to someone too or just having a refreshing nap like I did." She leads them from the room. As Kennedy glances back over her shoulder she sees Tara's form stand next to Buffy. She is surprised and then unsure. Why had the blonde chose the Slayer and not her redhead. Letting the thoughts fall away she turns her attention to her girls as they curl together on the couch.
Willow lays on the couch with Kennedy's head nestled on her shoulder as they lie facing each other. The redhead's rounded stomach barely allowing the position. Kennedy lets her eyes fall closed as her girl runs soothing fingers against her cheek. She opens her eyes slowly after a few seconds and they lock with concerned green. "I'm okay. It's just... it's a lot." Willow stays quiet waiting for her to continue. I-I'm like them. Like the jaguars that came after her. I can..." she stops again as if trying to get her mind around the notion.
Willow smiles softly, "You can shape shift." She finishes the words for her Potential and watches her nod.
A few seconds later the brunette speaks again, "That doesn't bother you? That I'm... I'm not normal?"
Willow smiles, "What's normal?" Kennedy grins. "Besides I dated a werewolf; don't think it's any different. Well, okay, it is, cause you can control it... and... well..."
"Tara was a werewolf?" Kennedy seems surprised. "Cause you never said..."
"Not Tara. Oz."
"Oz?" Kennedy raises a playful eyebrow. "Who's Oz?"
Willow grins, "Old boyfriend."
Kennedy's brow goes even higher. "Boyfriend?"
Willow nods, "And I'll tell you all about him. After."
Kennedy gets quiet for a minute, "The line runs through my family. They left their home before my mama was born because a seer told them she was in danger-"
"They knew even then what you would be called to do."
"That's why they killed my mama. They wanted to stop me!" Tears slip down her cheeks.
Willow gently wipes them away, then presses her lips to Kennedy's forehead. "Then she died protecting you, and in doing that, she saved my baby too." Willow's eyes close as she fights to compose herself. She opens them slowly as she feels lips on hers.
Kennedy pulls back slowly, she lets her hand rest on the redhead's stomach. "No one's ever gonna hurt her."
Willow grins, deciding things need a little levity, "Well she'll probably have her heart broken at least once."
The Protector smiles a bit, "There's that, but I bet she breaks a few hearts too." Willow smiles. "Blue eyes and your red hair..."
"Tara's smile..." she bites her lip.
"She's gonna be a knock out." She frowns.
"What's wrong?" Willow asks unsure.
"She can't date till she's at least 30." Willow looks unsure and Kennedy back pedals. "I mean if... well if she were my daughter she..." she stops as she watches the redhead smile.
"I was thinking 25 but 30 works." She leans in and kisses her. When they part both begin to giggle. Willow pulls her Potential as close as possible.
"Ready for a little nap?"
"Had a nap remember? While you had your vision." Willow states.
"Right," she pretends to think. "Then what are we going to do?"
Willow smiles and leans in for another gentle kiss. As they pull apart the Protector smiles too. "There could be smoochies."
Kennedy leans back in and before their lips meet she whispers, "Like the way you think." Their lips meet and begin a slow gentle rhythm.
After a few minutes the kiss ends and both pant for air. Just as their breathing slows their lips meet again brushing lightly together over and over again. Finally Kennedy pulls back enough to look into dark green eyes. She smiles at her redhead and presses her lips to Willow's holding them there unmoving for a fluttering second before removing them.
"Smoochies stopped," complains the witch as she opens her eyes again.
Kennedy smiles, "More smoochies later. I think I should check on the others. You be okay here?"
Willow nods, "We'll be fine." They kiss one last time then Kennedy stands. The redhead watches her girl go toward the kitchen. She feels the baby kick, then kick again. "Mmm, better finish that list," she says softly. "Need to get ready for you little one."
* * *
Buffy now stands, her eyes not leaving the form of Tara in front of her. "Tara?"
The blonde smiles, "It's me."
Kennedy stands in the doorway and watches quietly.
"Why are you here?" Asks the Slayer.
"We need to talk, I need to explain." Tara starts.
Buffy interrupts. "But why me, why not Willow?"
"There are things you need to know, things that will make her calling clear to you."
"Kennedy's?"
"No Buffy, the baby's. She is important to not only Willow, but you as well."
"This doesn't make sense." The Slayer states.
Tara smiles, "Maybe if, you know, you listened and didn't, well stopped with the interrupting." Buffy blushes and stays quiet. "Now, let's see how to start." Tara orders her thoughts. "Do you remember the first time you meet me?"
Buffy says without thought, "That day at Giles' apartment-the day Oz came back."
Tara shakes her head at her words, "We meet before that..." she stops and steps closer to the blonde Slayer. She puts her hand on Buffy's forehead and whispers. "Think."
Images begin to flutter through the Slayers mind, fast unfocused, like a movie projector rewinding, starting with the day at Giles' apartment and traveling back from there.
The Slayer tries to concentrate and slow them down but she can not. She grabs pieces of scenes-she and Willow walking in total silence, note boards around their necks. Then, back even farther to the day Willow came running passed the coffee shop, devastated by Oz's betrayal. As Riley keeps her from running into the street, a scared Buffy sees the shy blonde running toward them as well, then stop when she sees the redhead is safe.
Buffy's movie continues, still going back in time. This time as it slows the Chosen One stands amazed. As she walks around campus the first day of school she sees the blonde Wicca several times through out the day. She's the one that helps her find her first class, then days later helps her again when she drops her tray at lunch. Flash after flash of the quiet blonde fills the scene helping the Slayer in one way or another.
As the Slayer's thoughts come back to now, her eyes meet soft blue, "Tara? How? Why? I don't get it... I don't think I do... I..."
"Buffy, I am, I was, my calling was to protect you."
"But Willow?" Buffy seems worried. "The two of you?"
Tara smiles, "Not planned but definitely a great perk of the job." She winks playfully. "I love Willow, but as the Guardian I was called to keep the Chosen one safe."
Buffy looks stunned as she tries to process the words. "Protect me?" Tara nods. Buffy shakes her head but even as she does she begins to recall all the times Tara was there for her. Even after the break up with Willow, it had been Tara who comforted the broken woman after Spike. Thinking of Spike and coming back wrong, she speaks softly. "But I died."
Tara looks away, "My mind... I-I wasn't able..." she composes herself. "I failed you, that's why I agreed to... I wanted to..." she stops.
Kennedy steps into the room from the doorway. "The baby?"
"The baby," Tara smiles. "It's her job now. So, Slayer, don't give her too hard a time."
"But Tara?" Buffy starts.
"She will be the guardian of the Slayer," her eyes move to Kennedy, "while you protect her."
Kennedy nods her understanding. "I'll keep her safe."
"I know you will." Tara's hand comes forward and touches the young woman's forehead. "See."
With that one word Tara is gone from the room, Buffy stands rattled as Kennedy falls to the floor visions of the future whirling through her mind.
"Kennedy!" Buffy kneels next to her as Willow comes into the room.
"Buffy what happened?" She struggles to sit beside her.
"Tara."
"Tara?"
Buffy nods as she watches Willow touch Kennedy's face, caressing it softly. "She just..."
"Kennedy baby, open your eyes." The girl's eyes flutter and finally brown settle on worried green. "You okay?" Willow kisses her before she can answer.
When the tender kiss ends Kennedy speaks in an amazed whisper. "We have twins." Willow looks unsure. "A boy and a girl." She smiles as her eyes flutter and close.
Willow looks from her sleeping girl to the blonde Slayer. "What the frilly heck?"
Chapter 10
The blonde Slayer and the Witch are silent. It is Buffy who finally speaks. "Tara... she... she was the Guardian! *My* guardian."
Willow looks up at her puzzled. "I don't... she was... for you?" Worry creeps in. "Not..." The lingering doubt of childhood sneaks in, fear that Tara never loved her, only used her to get to the Slayer. "She stayed with me for you?"
"No! No," Buffy assures. "I was her job not you, You, she loved."
"This is..." the redhead starts and the blonde finishes.
"Strange?" Asks the Slayer. The Witch nods. "She said that the baby..."
Willow's hand goes to her stomach as the other strokes the sleeping brunette automatically. "She's safe."
"Yeah, she is. But Will, she is suppose to keep me safe. How can she?" Buffy just shakes her head.
Willow smiles as she looks around the room at her family before her eyes settle on the blonde now sitting across from her. "That's a big job for such a little girl." She grins at her friend.
"Hey!" Buffy feigns hurt. "You saying I'm difficult? Cause I'm not, I just-"
"You're just stubborn and...," the blonde pouts teasingly and Willow stops to smile. "She'll find a way."
Buffy rolls her eyes. "She doesn't get to be the boss of me."
"Technically? I think she does."
"She's a baby," states the Slayer.
"True, but she won't always be and I have a feeling she'll be able to relay any message that needs delivered." She looks down at Kennedy and then to her friend.
Buffy raises an eyebrow. "No! Don't even say it. There's no way Kennedy gets to tell me what to do."
Willow giggles, "Sorry Buff, but it could happen."
Buffy pouts, then mumbles. "An apocalypse would be easier to deal with."
Willow looks at her sympathetically. "Don't worry, I won't let'em gang up on you."
"Right," Buffy says teasingly. "This is just wrong."
They sit quietly again Buffy smiles warmly at her friend. Willow chews on her bottom lip and then speaks as she touches her Potential's cheek. "What do you think she was talking about before she got all sleepy?"
Buffy smiles and lets her hand touch Willow's. "I think Tara might have given her just a little bit of a head start."
"She saw... she... the future?"
Buffy shrugs, "I think maybe."
A nervous smile finds the redhead's lips. "Not sure I can... but..." she relaxes a little as she looks at Kennedy. "A big family might be... It could be fun right?"
Before Buffy can answer Kennedy's eyes flicker open. "Willow?"
"Hey sweetie." She caresses her cheek. Buffy stands quietly and walks away unnoticed.
"I talked to Tara..." she starts.
Willow smiles, "I know." She presses their lips together softly.

The next day everyone is going about their job. All are getting things ready for the arrival of the baby, which in turn brings the threat of the Evil trying to take her.
Willow stands in the middle of the living room, the furniture has been moved so that the circle can be drawn when the time comes. She sets the ingredients for the spell on the floor at her feet.
As her hand caresses her stomach she feels a slight kick and she can't help but smile. "Ready to boss Buffy around?"
"Hey! Enough of that," states the smiling Slayer as she walks in. "I thought you promised to be on my side?"
"I'm sure her side is your side, though I'm guessing you won't always think so." Willow looks at her friend.
Buffy sticks her tongue out at her. "Meanie! Both of you."
They are quiet for a minute, smiling at their playfulness in the face of danger. Buffy rubs her hand over Willow tummy. "Just remember, you might miss your curfew and need my help." The baby kicks at Buffy's voice and the blonde smiles.
Kennedy walks in and over to them, "Time for a nap." Her eyes meet Willow's as she wraps her in a hug.
Willow pouts and the Slayer grins, "See? Getting bossed around isn't so much fun huh?" Buffy sticks out her tongue again as she leaves the couple.
Kennedy kisses her redhead's lips. "Just a little one. You'll wish you slept more once she's here keeping you up all night." She smiles a little as she winks. Letting Willow know that she won't be up alone, that she'll help her anyway she can.
"Snuggle with me?" Willow asks.
"That's a deal." Hand in hand they go up the stairs.
* * *
Dawn is sitting at the table in the kitchen staring into space as Buffy walks in. The blonde Slayer looks at her a little concerned. "Everything okay?"
Dawn looks at up at her sister with a raised eyebrow, "Okay? Let's see there's a prophecy that predicts the end of the world, panthery people are trying to take Willow and Tara's baby, and I talked to Miss Kitty Fantastico yesterday so I'd say a resounding no, everything is not okay."
Buffy looks a little pouty as she processes the words of the teen. "First the world is so not gonna end, 'cause the whole prophecy thing is wrong. Well, not wrong exactly, we just stopped it. And Kennedy will keep the baby safe, that's her job," she frowns a little. "Her calling I guess you'd say." Then with a look that asks 'Huh?' she adds, "And what do you mean a cat talked to you?"
"Yesterday, when all the strangeness happened, I had a dream. Well, it wasn't a dream, pretty sure it was real. Miss Kitty explained how she brought Willow and Tara together but that she left too soon, and because she did, Tara wasn't protected. So when Warren, with the gun," Dawns tears start to fall.
"Dawnie," Buffy hugs her sister tightly. "Shhh. It's all gonna be okay."
"I miss her Buffy. A-and Willow has Kennedy and the baby but... I miss her."
"I miss her too Dawnie, we all do." She fights her own tears and she holds the teen a little tighter as she whispers. "And you have me."
"Don't leave me Buffy." She holds the Slayer like she will drown if she lets go.
"Never again, I promise," she kisses Dawn's forehead as she wipes her sister's tears. "Got my own little Guardian to make sure that doesn't happen."
Dawn nods trying to calm herself. "Okay."
"Okay," she wipes the teen's eyes again. "What else did Miss Kitty have to say?" She grins.
Dawn rolls her eyes, "Are you teasing or do you really wanna know?"
Buffy sits beside her, "Tell me everything."
Dawn smiles a little as she begins from the beginning. "We were all sitting around the table researching and..."
"I know that part," Buffy states and Dawn pouts. "Okay, okay! Table, researching, got it." She puts on her serious face and tries to stop the smile that wants to form as Dawn starts over.
* * *
Upstairs Kennedy lies spooned around the redhead. Her hand lightly strokes her girl's tummy. A soft voice breaks the silence. "You're not sleeping," says Willow.
"Didn't say I would," Kennedy teases. "I just volunteered for the snuggling." She presses a kiss to her shoulder. "But you, you're suppose to be."
"Tried. Can't." She responds.
"Something not right?" Her protector asks concerned. "Should I get someone?"
"No no. The baby isn't coming or anything like that, my head's just all busy."
"Anything I can do to help that?" Kennedy asks as she playfully dives across the redhead, landing softly beside her so that she can now see her face. Both giggle a little at the maneuver. Kennedy wiggles her eyebrows, "Now," she plants a quick kiss on her lips. "How do we put a stop to the busy head so you can rest?"
"Not sure. Nothing does, not really." She thinks about it as Kennedy brushes her lips against her forehead.
"I got an idea," Kennedy says with a smile as she snuggles as close as she can. Her body is against Willow's, her hand resting on her girl's tummy. "I'll tell you a bed time story." Willow smiles a shy smile as she bites her bottom lip. Her mind travels to a place and time long ago. Travels to a story Tara told her once upon a time. The younger woman recognizes the look in her redhead's eyes. "Tara told you stories too?"
"Yeah," she tells her softly as she lets her hand trace along the arm and hand on her stomach. "They always had a happy ending." Their eyes meet. "Does this one?"
"Absolutely, in fact she told me this story."
"She did?" Willow asks and Kennedy nods. "Was it about you and me?"
"It was, wanna hear it?" The witch nods and the Protector begins the tale. "Long ago, in a galaxy far-" the redhead mock glares and her girl giggles. "Okay, let me try that again."
However, before she can start over Willow's lips meet hers in a feather light kiss. The redhead's fingers trace against her cheek as their eyes meet. Kennedy clears her throat, the moment so intense that her foggy mind is a little rattled. She closes her eyes and tries to compose herself but her girl's fingers continue to caress her, making it difficult. Willow smiles at the reaction, "The story starts out 'Once upon a time', right?"
"Ri-right," she manages to focus. She takes her girl's hands in hers and looks her in the eyes. "Once upon a time there was a beautiful redheaded princess." She smiles.
Willow rolls her eyes, but plays along. "Who met her prince charming?" Grinning.
Now it's Kennedy who rolls her eyes. "Well you got the charming part right!" she giggles.
The witch swats at her playfully. "You think?"
"I know. Anyway, an evil creature tried to keep them apart."
Willow frowns, "I thought this was a happy story?"
"It is, the evil was kept away because fate stepped in. An old love helped a new keep the princess and her baby safe." Kennedy presses her lips to Willow's forehead. "And as time passed, they grew even closer. The princess and her charmer fell madly in love. They were found worthy by the powers and were given children and their home was always full of love and laughter." She stops when she sees the tears glistening in her girl's green eyes.
Willow kisses her again, holding her lips unmoving against her Protector's. The tears finally slip down her cheeks. Kennedy wipes them away as the witch's lips leave hers. "Kennedy," she stops.
The younger woman smiles, "See, happily ever after just like a said." Her girl snuggles a close as she can get, resting her head on Kennedy's shoulder. "Think you can sleep now?"
"Think I'd rather hear about our kids." She smiles a little nervously.
Her Protector smiles warmly, "Make you a deal. I'll tell you all about Logan and Lexi after your nap."
"Logan and Lexi?" She smiles.
"Yep," she runs her hand over her girl's extended stomach. "She picked out the names."
Willow's smile grows, "How old was she when they were..."
"My guess would be... five. She looked five when I..." she stops at her redhead's smile. "Yeah, you get to take care of me while I'm pregnant."
"Make you take naps." Willow teases.
"Exactly. Now close your eyes beautiful." Willow does as she snuggles closer. Kennedy kisses the top of her head. She feels the baby kick. "Sleep little one, mama needs rest." The baby settles almost instantly. "That's my good girl." She rubs Will's tummy. The witch smiles at her words and actions.
The fairy tale night comes to an end as the younger woman senses trouble. Her eyes scan the room but see nothing as she makes another pass she spots the glowing eyes at the window. She tenses and Willow reacts. "Kennedy?"
The girl moves to sit up, "Some people are just a little slow," she says in a growly voice. "Need their asses kicked more than once to catch on."
Willow follows her eyes to the window and sees the Jaguars there. She bites her lip and takes her Protector's hand. "Sweetie, let's..." she stops and holds her breath from the pain.
"Will?" She realizes what is about to happen. "Breath." She orders and the redhead tries to follow her lead. They both look back toward the window as the glass breaks.
Chapter 11
Kennedy growls at the creatures that are now set to pounce. Willow looks at her a little surprised but realizes what is happening as her girl's eyes turn a deep yellow.
The young Protector's eyes pin the animals and they stand unmoving. "Been through this once," she states. "Don't really have time for it again." She moves in front of the redhead and backs them toward the door. "How are you doing?" She glances back at the mother-to-be.
Willow nods, letting out a slow breath. "Okay for now."
"Good, okay." She stares down the Jaguars. "We're just gonna go. Slowly." She backs closer still to the door. "Now Will!" She orders.
The redhead opens the door and they go out it. She slams it closed stopping the attackers for now. Buffy, Dawn and a few of the Potentials fill the hallway. "What's going on?" Asks the blonde Slayer.
"Baby," Willow states as another contraction starts. Kennedy moves closer, letting her lean against her.
"Slow, even breathes like we practiced in class." Willow nods against her as she holds onto her shoulders. Kennedy looks over her shoulder at Buffy. "We got company in there- three of them. Not sure how long that'll hold'em." She looks at the door. "Pretty sure they can shape shift."
Buffy nods, "Get her downstairs. We got this." She looks to the girls who are now armed and smiles. "Dawn, go with them. Help with the ritual."
"Help, right." The three of them start down the stairs.
* * *
As they go down the stairs, Xander is running up them. "Did I hear more glass break?"
Kennedy rolls her eyes. "Not really the issue right now."
His eyes focus on Willow, "Will?"
She blows out another breath as this contraction is stronger than the last. She starts the exercise, turning back into Kennedy's arms.
The Protector's hand goes to her stomach and the younger woman can feel the tightening there. "Someone's as impatient as her mama," she teases.
"Meanie," groans the redhead through the pain.
Dawn smiles but looks instantly worried as she hears fighting behind them in the hallway. "Really need to not be here."
Xander picks up the redhead and Kennedy growls. "Easy," Willow whispers as her hand finds her girl's cheek.
Xander looks unsure, "Did she just growl at me?" His eyes move from Willow's to Dawn's.
"Just go," the teenagers orders. "And yes," she supplies as they all jog down the steps.
"Thought so." He mutters.
* * *
Buffy stands with sword in hand as the door opens and five, not three, people emerge from the room. She stares down the leader. "This can go one of two ways," she begins. "You and your little group of... well... whatever you are can turn around and leave the way you came in or..." Her words are interrupted as the group attacks. "Why do they always pick the fighting?" She seems to be addressing the closest Potential. The girl shrugs, a little unsure of why the woman is talking and not fighting. "Fine, we fight, but don't say I didn't try to play nice." She hits the man that lunges at her.

In the living room, the circle has been drawn with the sacred sand. Everything is inside it that Kennedy will need to deliver the Guardian. Dawn is walking around the room, lighting candles as Willow reads words from a book that the others can not understand. Xander looks at Kennedy, "That's Spanish right?"
"No," Kennedy says firmly.
"Sumerian," Dawn states.
A nervous and worried Kennedy questions, "And that's important why?"
Willow's reading stops, "Kennedy." Kennedy looks to her and goes to her side. The young Protector leans into the redhead's touch as she caresses her face. "Relax sweetie."
"Things are just-" she stops. "Sorry, just-"
"Nervous?" Willow grins at her.
"No," she lies with a little smile. She presses her lips to her girl's and they share a gentle kiss. "No," she repeats and the word is closer to true now. "Anxious, can't wait to see her." She lets her hand rub over Willow's stomach and she can feel it start to tighten. "Another one." She warns.
"Yep," Willow says as she takes in a deep breath then breathes it out slowly, working through the exercise. This contraction is longer and stronger than the previous ones. She struggles a little to stay on top of it.
Kennedy's hand rubs her back and she whispers in her ear. "You're doing great. Just a little longer." She kisses her temple. "Almost over." The pain recedes. "Cleansing breath." Willow does as she is told. "Good job." She says a little louder.
Dawn smiles at them together but her eyes are drawn to the circle as it starts to glow. "Willow?"
Willow sees the circle and smiles. "It's time." She takes Kennedy's hand. "Ready?"
She grins and winks, "I'm always ready."
Willow swats playfully and Kennedy giggles as she kisses her. A few seconds later they are serious again and walk to the circle. The witch looks at Dawn. "Once we're inside you read the rest of the incantation."
"Right. Then it's sealed no one in or out." Dawn picks up the book Willow dropped when the contraction started and finds the page. "Got it."
As they step inside the door opens and in walks a man and woman. Their eyes flash yellow and a purring growl finds its way from them. Xander shakes is head as he gripes, "At least they didn't break the window this time." He picks up a crossbow but their magic sends it flying from his hands. "Not good."
A barrier materializes around Dawn. Willow looks surprised but then relaxes as she can feel Tara's presence. "Start Dawn," says the redhead as she starts to step into the circle.
"Wait," Kennedy says. "I have to," she looks toward the people as they turn into large Jaguars.
Willow nods her understanding, then forces a grin, "Not too long okay?" Another contraction starts as she steps into the circle.
The Jaguars circle her girl and Willow's concentration is split. She cries out as the pain worsens, then relaxes as she feels a gentle ghost of a touch on her shoulder. When she opens her eyes, she sees Tara standing in front of her. "Tara?"
"It's me, but I can only stay a little while." Another, stronger contraction follows the last. "Breath." Willow follows her words as she tells her to lie down and the blonde kneels beside her.
Outside the circle, Kennedy can feel her body start to change. Fear wells inside her but she accepts her calling. Within seconds her eyes flash yellow and Dawn stops her words as she and Xander stare at the transformation.
Buffy and the others reach the living room just as Kennedy's change is complete and she lunges at the larger Jaguar.
"Read," says the blonde, her eyes on Dawn. The girl nods and the words start again.
They watch as Kennedy battles them. She is winning or at least Buffy thinks it is the Protector. The first Jaguar lies unmoving as the second attacks. The barrier starts to form around the circle. Tara's words can be heard by all. "Kennedy, now! You must enter now!"
The Jaguars continue to fight. Wrestling, then one strikes the final blow knocking the other to the ground.
Inside the barrier, the redhead reaches for the blonde's hand as the contraction starts but passes through it. "Goddess-" she cries out. "I can't do this."
Tara smiles at her, "You can. You're strong." A grin finds her face. "Strong like an Amazon."
Willow tries to smile but the pain increases. "Gotta push-" she groans out.
The last Jaguar standing leaps through the closing barrier as Tara vanishes. "Tara!" Willow cries.
"That's her right? Kennedy, not...?" Xander asks. Buffy doesn't answer. "Buffy?"
"I think, I'm not sure. I..." Silence feels the room and Buffy feels helpless. Her words almost panicked. "Get me inside Dawnie."
"Buffy, no one can go in, not now." Xander says as he wraps an arm around her shoulder.
"I can't let Willow..." she stops, her eyes watching as the creature inside the barrier starts to change. She steps closer to it, but, as she reaches out, the barrier knocks her back.
"See, you should listen more often," says the man as she sits across the room holding her head. He and Dawn help her stand.
Willow works to control her breathing as she watches the creature, ready to fight if she has to. She relaxes when she sees Kennedy's soft feature starting to return. She smiles, but cries out as another contraction hits her.
Kennedy, drained, crawls to her. "It's okay baby. I'm here. It's okay." She strokes Willow's cheek, then her arm and finally her stomach. Her brown eyes meet Willow green. "Let's see if she's ready." The redhead nods as she lifts her hips so that Kennedy can slide her pajama bottoms off.
Dawn and Buffy glare at Xander, "Turning your head now would be good, better still," states the blonde, "the upstairs window needs fixed." The man nods and jogs up the steps only to stop on the landing as Bringers fill the room.
Buffy growls, "Weapons." The Potentials and the others head for the weapons chest and the new fight begins.
* * *
Inside the barrier, protected from the fighting, Willow pushing to Kennedy's count. "And again, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and ten." She kisses Willow's forehead. "Now relax."
"It hurts," Willow pants out.
"Almost here though, ust a couple of more pushes."
Willow smiles, "You know this how?"
"Hmmm, we talk, she and I."
"Yeah, what did she say?"
"She can't wait to see you and have you hold her." She brushes Willow's sweat soaked hair back from her face, then kisses her lips.
"Hmm, need to..." she starts to push again. Kennedy kisses her lips once more before moving to check on the progress of the child.
"I can see her head," a smile finds her lips and a tear slips down her cheek. Willow pushes harder.
* * *
Bringers continue to fall in the living room but all fighting stops as a form shimmers in. Buffy stands confused, as she looks at herself. "What the hell?" She mutters.
"The First, I'm guessing." Xander looks at it then at Buffy. "You were dead once."
"Right. Giles said it can take the form of dead people." Dawn adds.
Buffy swings at it - at herself - but her hand goes right through it. "Damn." She growls frustrated.
"Non-corporal, remember?" Dawn says as Buffy swings and gets air again. "Meaning not solid, you can't hit it."
The First laughs, "Not so bright, are you Slayer?"
The Slayer glares, then smiles as the last Bringer falls. "Looks like you're on your own. All your henchmen seem to be dead."
"No worries. I have more. Thousands upon thousands." A wicked smile finds her lips. "You can't win."
Buffy becomes cocky, "I always win."
"You can't kill what you can't fight." The First taunts.
"Fighting doesn't always mean fists," Xander says with a smile.
"Evil begets evil," the First states.
*And good shall inherit the Earth,* says a soft voice that fills their heads, not their ears.
"Won't be worth having when I'm finished with it."
The baby's cry fills the room. "I think you're wrong." Buffy smiles.
"Be seeing you Slayer." The First disappears.
"You bet you will." Buffy turns to the crying and sees Willow holding the baby in her arms.
* * *
Willow hears Tara's words in her head, *She's beautiful Will.*
*She has your eyes,* the redhead's mind sends back.
*And your hair,* Tara continues.
Willow smiles, *Well, yeah not much there but what is, is red.* Tara smiles and in her mind the redhead can feel the happiness of her witch. *I'll always love you.*
*I know. Be happy Willow and I will too. Take care of our girl.*
*Always.*
Kennedy hears Tara's words in her mind as well as she moves to kneel at the redhead's side. *Protect her well*
*Count on it.* The young woman promises.
With those words, Tara is gone. Willow cries and Kennedy wraps her in her arms. The baby fusses a little. "See," the young woman speaks, "impatient."
Willow she looks into the baby's soft blue eyes, "I think she's hungry."
"I think you're right," Kennedy kisses her lips. "Why don't we get you situated upstairs in bed and then you can feed her?"
"Yeah, good plan." She looks at the barrier and wrinkles her brow. "Hmmm, wonder why the barrier isn't down?"
Kennedy grins, "Maybe it needs a magic word?"
Willow tries to settle the fussing baby. "Shouldn't. It should've dropped once the baby was born."
Kennedy tenses a little, her eyes scan the room. "Unless she's not safe." The Protector stands and moves to the barrier. "Buffy, can you hear me?"
"We hear you, we're checking it out." The Slayer, Xander and the Potentials move off in different directions leaving only Dawn in the living room.
The teen holds the book tightly, suddenly feeling a little wigged. "Something's not right."
Kennedy moves closer to Willow and the baby again. Without warning, a bolt of magic hits the protective shield, shaking it strongly. It holds however. The young Protector's eyes go to the woman and baby beside her. "You two okay?"
Willow nods as she watches the bolt bounces off the barrier and carom past Dawn back towards its source. The startled woman screams as it hits her in the chest, knocking her unconscious on the floor.
Buffy and the others run back in, they look at the fallen Potential. "What happened to Rona?" She and Xander move quickly to check on her.
Dawn is the first to find words, "She-she tried to hurt Willow and the baby."
Buffy looks toward the circle, Kennedy is wrapped protectively around the redhead and the child. The barrier gone, now that the threat is over. "Will?"
"We're fine." She seems rattled. "Why would she..." she stops.
Kennedy watches as the woman starts to wake. She picks up the crossbow just outside the circle and aims it at Rona. Willow touches her ankle. The Protector looks down at her girls. "She tried..."
"But she didn't, let Buffy. She'll take care of things. Stay with us." The baby fusses to help stress the point.
She looks at Buffy, the blonde speaks. "I'll make a few calls, she won't bother them again."
"You're sure?"
"I can promise. Dawnie, you got Riley's e-mail right?"
"Yeah," she admits with an eye roll. "Not sure why, but yeah."
Kennedy turns her attention back to the redheads. "Let's get the little one all snuggly." She smiles at them. Willow smiles back. The little Guardian coos happily.
* * *
Later, upstairs in Willow's room, the witch is nursing her child. Kennedy sits next to them watching in wonder, a smile on her face. Her hand brushes over Willow's arm and then the baby's hand. "What are you gonna name her?"
Willow looks up, "Not sure. Can't find anything I like."
"No rush. She'll grow into one." Kennedy adds, "Won't you little Guardian?" The baby's eyes move from her mama to her Protector. "Yes you will."
Willow smiles at the two of them. A few minutes later the baby stops nursing. "Finally full?" She tickles at her daughter's tummy. She kisses her forehead then looks at the younger woman. "Hold her for me while I...?"
"Me? I-I wouldn't... I've never..." her protests stop as Willow puts the baby into her arms. She looks down in awe as she is greeted by a large smile. "Hey beautiful."
"See, not so hard." Willow kisses her girl's cheek. "Just watch her head." Willow fixes her top as the Protector gets lost in the newborn. She finishes and smiles at them, lying down with her head on Kennedy's shoulder and eye level with her child. The baby fusses a little and Kennedy attempts to give her back. "No, just put her on your shoulder and rub her back. She needs to burp."
"I'm not sure I..." she does what Willow asks and the baby stills almost instantly.
"See, she's happy now." The redhead lets her fingers travel the baby's arm.
"Me too." She leans over and kisses Willow softly. "Thank you."
Willow is confused, "For?"
"Letting me be a part of this. She's amazing and so are you." She kisses her redhead again then presses her lips to the top of the baby's head.
Before Willow can answer, there is a light knock on the door and it opens slowly. Buffy, Dawn, Xander and Giles all stand in the doorway. Dawn is the one to ask, "Can we come in for a minute?"
Willow nods and smiles as Kennedy tucks the baby back into her mama's arms. "No fair," Buffy pouts. "She got to hold her first."
Kennedy rolls her eyes and the new mom smiles, "You can hold her second."
"Goody!" Buffy steps forward and Willow puts her into her friend's arms. The others move closer to get a better look at the infant.
Willow's hand slips into Kennedy's as she again lays her head on her girl's shoulder. They quietly watch Buffy with the child who will keep her safe.
The Slayer smiles into soft blue eyes and then frowns just a little, "Just so you know, you're not the boss of me."
Kennedy giggles and the blonde Slayer glares playfully. "She so is," she tells the older woman.
"Is not," Buffy protests.
*Am to,* comes a little voice with a soft giggle.
Buffy pouts and looks up at Willow who is trying desperately not to laugh, having heard her daughter's thoughts as well. Kennedy laughs, the others look on confused. They are unaware of the thoughts being sent and received.
Epilogue
Weeks have passed and Rona has been safely tucked away by Riley and his special forces. The woman's magical abilities bound, she is a threat to no one, though all still wonder why she chose to work with The First. Despite repeated questioning, she still won't say why she betrayed them.
Willow and Tara's baby girl is happy and, both the mid-wife and the pediatrician agree, healthy, though she remains nameless. Her mama just can't settle on a name. Kennedy teases, saying she'll just call her Lil' Red. The playing stops. however, when Willow pretends to get angry.
This day starts like most others, the new mom asleep in the bed she shares with the young Protector, her daughter sleeping securely between them. Though the child starts the night in her crib across the room this is where she ends up. Feeding the infant in the wee hours of the morning is easier when she is nearer her mama.
The baby girl starts to fuss. Both women stir but it is Willow whose eyes open first. She stretches and smiles at the baby, "Hungry or just want the us to know you're awake?" She runs a finger down her cheek then presses it to the redhead's lip. She starts to suckle. "Hungry it is." She unbuttons her pajama top and in seconds has the baby turned and nursing contently.
Kennedy, who is now awake, watches unnoticed. She is quiet until she sees her redhead yawn. "You finish up and I'll change her. You need some more sleep."
"I'm okay," Willow states as she caresses her daughter's face.
Kennedy reaches across and caresses Willow's cheek. "Come on, we're buddies. Let us hang out." She grins as she strokes the baby's head. Her eyes meet tired green. "We'll go to the coffee shop and bring you back a mocha." She raises a playful eyebrow.
Willow considers her girlfriend's words. "No mochas, nope, not as long as I'm breastfeeding. Makes her really hyper."
The younger woman makes a face, "I remember. So no mochas. But let me watch her, okay? You need to sleep more."
Willow leans, careful not to disturb her daughter and kisses Kennedy's lips. "Okay, I'll sleep and you watch her."
Kennedy smiles and holds the baby's hand up to high five it. "Yes!"
Willow rolls her eyes, "You're a goof."
Kennedy wiggles her eyebrows, "But you love me anyway."
The redhead smiles, "Yes I do." She buttons her pajama top and starts to burp the baby.
"I got it." She picks up the little one and lays her against her shoulder alternating patting her back and rubbing it softly. Willow watches with a smile as she yawns again.
"Sleep. We're good, aren't we Lil' Mac?" The baby coos as Kennedy cradles her in her arms. She smiles down at the redhead.
"What did you call her?" Willow asks as she fights to keep her eyes open.
Kennedy bites her lip as she looks at her redhead. "Well you didn't like Lil Red, so I thought maybe Lil Mac would be okay-" she stops.
"Lil Mac?"
"Well, she's little and she's a MaClay."
Willow nods, "She is at that." She thinks about the name then moves so that she is sitting next to the pair. She smiles up at the woman who has become so important in her life, then her eyes fall on the little girl. "MaClay Rosenberg." She lets the name play on her lips. "That could work."
"Still not sure?" Kennedy says with a little smile.
"Still not sure," the redhead admits.
Kennedy kisses her and then scoots from the bed with Lil Mac in her arms. "Sleep." She kisses her girl's forehead and holds the baby down for her to kiss and she does.
The Protector moves across the room and begins to change the baby's diaper. When she finishes she turns to say something to Willow but she is sound asleep. "Let's be really quiet Lil Mac. Mama's sleeping." They go out the door.
The redhead sleeps and as she does, she dreams. A smile finds her lips as the scenes play in her mind.
A little redhead of about three runs in the front yard toward a swing, as she climbs on she looks back at her mama, "Mama push please?" Questions the girl.
Willow smiles at her daughter as she walks to her, "How high do you want to go Lily Mac?" She asks playfully.
"High- way up."
"To the stars?" Asks Kennedy as she joins them, slipping her arms around Willow's waist.
"No stars- daytime, mommy." She say as the swing starts to gently sway.
"Smart girl," Kennedy smiles as she helps Willow push the swing. Taking turns they have the swing going higher and higher. Lily Mac giggles and her mommies smile.
"Higher," squeals the little girl.
"I think that's high enough," Willow says as she gets a little nervous.
Kennedy looks at her redheads and smiles, "Yep, Mama's right. Gotta save the really high stuff 'til you're 4."
"'Til I'm four," she concedes.
The dream continues. The little redhead is taking a nap, Willow and Kennedy each kiss her forehead. "Sleep tight, Lily Mac," Willow says softly as they walk to they walk to the door hand-in-hand. Kennedy closes it part of the way and they go into the hallway.
Kennedy stops and looks back at her lover, "So what are we gonna do now?"
Willow smiles shyly, "Hmm not sure, I could work on that computer program that's due in a few days."
Kennedy playfully pouts, "Work?" Her arms slip around Willow's waist as she faces her.
Willow shrugs, "Unless you got a better idea."
Kennedy smirks, "Oh yeah, definitely got a better idea." She leans in and kisses her redhead softly on the lips, before moving down the let her tongue run along the skin of Willow's neck.
The witch moans, "Like this idea better." She tilts her head to the side as her girl's lips continue to tease. "Bedroom." She groans out.
Kennedy backs them that direction, her lips and tongue never leaving skin. At the doorway Kennedy looks up into darker green eyes and smiles, "I was thinking-"
"Now? No, no thinking," Willow states as she presses a kiss to her lover's lips that deepens instantly. Tongues battle, playing from one mouth to the other before Willow captures and begins to suck on Kennedy's.
The Protector moans loudly, "Thinking," she pants out as they break apart for air a few minutes later.
"Still with the thinking. 'Kay, about what?" She looks into deep chocolate eyes.
Kennedy lets her fingers trace along Willow's hand then takes it in hers, she places it on her stomach and then with a smile she looks up into Willow's eyes. "I was thinking we need a bigger house." She bites her bottom lip as she excitedly waits and watches Willow's face as she puts the pieces together. First she sees confusion, then uncertainty, then the smile that begins to creep across her love's face. Kennedy's smile grows.
As the smile broadens the redhead asks, "You're-" she stops as she sees the brown-eyed girl nod. "You're sure?" Again a nod. "Logan and Lexi," she whispers against Kennedy's cheek as she pulls her in closer and kisses her lips.
"Logan and Lexi," she confirms as they share a gentle kiss.
"Lily Mac is gonna be so excited."
"Understandable, I'm a little excited too." Kennedy looks into Willow's eyes.
"Yeah, right there with you." She shakes her head. "Wow... just wow!" She hugs her tight. "I love you," she whispers against her ear. "Gonna show you how much." She backs her into the bedroom with a grin on her face.
The dream ends and the redhead wakes up, a little aroused but more excited, she stretches and turns to her side to see the brunette sitting on the edge of the bed with a smirk on her face. "Nice dream?"
Willow blushes, "Yeah, definitely nice."
"Was I in it?" She asks with a grin as she lies down next to her girl.
"May-be," she teases.
"Only maybe?" She pouts then leans forward capturing Willow's lips in a scorching kiss.
As they break for air Willow admits, "You were there." Her words breathy.
"Good to know," she lets her hand caress Willow's side down her arm, along her hip and then leg before sliding back up. "So wanna tell me about it?"
"It was-" she stops and frowns. "Where's Lily Mac?"
"Lily Mac?" A smile finds her face. "Decided on a name huh?"
"Like it?" Willow asks.
"Love it and her and you." They share a soft kiss. "Lily Mac is sleeping in her crib. So-" she stops her words to share a soft kiss. "Tell me about the dream. Was there kissing?" She raises a playful eyebrow.
"Lots of kissing," Willow whispers as she kisses her again, their lips open and close together. When they break apart she continues to talk. "And touching," she lets hr hand caress Kennedy's cheek then down her neck to her shoulder before it slides down the front of her girl.
The Protector's breathing speeds up as does her heart rate, darker brown eyes connect with soft green, "Will... I... if-" her breath hitches as the hand cups her breast and begins to massage gently.
Willow bites her bottom lip before speaking. "This okay?"
"More than, but are you sure you-" her eyes close and her words stop as the redhead kisses her neck. Kennedy groans as Willow's tongue snakes out and travels her humming skin. "Feels so good," she pants out as her hand tangles in Willow's hair. As her girl pushes her onto her back and straddles her waist she manages words again. "Sure you're ready? The doctor said-" words stop as the witch pulls her earlobe better her lips and sucks gently. "Oh god!"
Willow smiles, "Goddess," she teases and continues to love her girl. Her leg slips down between Kennedy's and she exerts slight pressure to her girl's center. The Protector's leg moves between Will's as well. They rock together slowly at first but it becomes more frantic.
It is Kennedy who finds control and slows them down again, "Slow," she breaths out. "We got forever." A smile finds her lips as she opens her eyes and sees Willow looking down at her.
"Forever," nods the redhead as she sets up and her soon to be lover does the same. She pulls Kennedy's shirt slowly up her body and off as she lets her fingers caress soft skin. "I love you."
"I love you," she replies as Willow's pajama top is removed as well.
The redhead grins as she leans forward and unhooks her girl's bra, pulling it down her arms and off. Her eyes lock on Kennedy's breasts and her hands reach forward without thought cupping them gently. "Beautiful," she manages as she leans and takes a hardening peak between her lips.
The younger woman moans loudly as the witch begins to suckle. "Yes! Don't stop."
She finds herself pressed back onto the mattress and feels Willow's hand slip between them working to remove her jeans.
Across the room the baby begins to cry and both women stop immediately looking that direction. They struggle to regain their composure, as they both sit up again looking toward the sound. Kennedy is the first to her feet, she then Willow cross to her to find her fighting sleep. Willow smiles, "Sleep Lily Mac-" she caresses her cheek.
"That's a good girl." She pats her back.
The baby's eyes close and she in asleep in seconds. Willow turns to Kennedy. "Where were we?" She asks with a grin.
"Come'ere and I'll show you." They both giggle then smile as they lie side by side on the bed. They share a few soft, lingering kisses before the younger woman speaks, "Didn't tell me about the dream."
"Didn't have to, you already knew." Willow kisses her again. Kennedy looks confused as she lets her hand caress against Willow's bare skin. "Forever. It was about forever."
Kennedy smiles and leans into another kiss. Willow pulls back and then removes her girl's jeans. "Now shhh. No more talking."
Kennedy nods as she feels Willow kissing up her body. "No, no talking." She groans out as the redhead's lips tease up the inside of her leg.
